فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَىٰكُمْ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Know, therefore, that there is no God other than Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy frailties, and for believing men and believing women. And Allah knows the place where you move about and the place where you stay.

English - Five Volume Translation

Know, therefore, that there is no God other than Allah, and ask protection for thy frailties, and for believing men and believing women. And Allah knows the place where you move about and the place where you stay.[3804]

Commentary:

For the meaning and significance of the expression استغفر لذنبک see a detailed note on 40:56 & 48:3. The words متقلبکم و مثواکمmay mean, when you move about transacting your affairs and when you take rest, or متقلبکم may apply to this world and مثواکمto the next.

English - Short Commentary Translation

Know, therefore, that there is no god other than Allah, and ask protection for thy human frailties,[2752] and for believing men and believing women. And Allah knows the place where you move about and the place where you stay.[2753]

The words, Mutaqallabakum and Mathwakum, may mean, 'When you move about transacting your affairs and when you take rest, or the former word may apply to this world and the latter to the next.'

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس جان لے کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور اپنی لغزش کی بخشش طلب کر، نیز مومنوں اور مومنات کے لئے بھی۔ اور اللہ تمہارے سفری ٹھکانوں کو بھی خوب جانتا ہے اور مستقل ٹھکانوں کو بھی۔

French

Sache donc, qu’il n’y a de dieu qu’Allāh, et demande pardon pour tes manquements qui en somme ne sont pas délibérés, et demande pardon pour les croyants et les croyantes. Et Allāh connaît vos allées et venues et votre lieu de repos.

German

Wisse drum, dass es keinen Gott gibt außer Allah, und bitte um Vergebung für deine Fehler und für die gläubigen Männer und die gläubigen Frauen. Allah kennt die Stätte eures Aus- und Eingehens und die Stätte eurer Rast.

Chinese

所以要知道: 除安拉之外, 没有值得崇拜的对象, 要求 (安拉) 宽恕你 (作为人) 的弱点也 (宽恕)信仰的男女。安拉知道你们活动的地方和居留的地方。

Sappi, perciò, che non c'è altro Dio all'infuori di Allah, e chiedi perdono per la tua fragilità, e per gli uomini e le donne credenti. E Allah sa per dove vi muovete e il luogo in cui sostate.

Spanish

Sabe, pues, que no hay Dios distinto de Al-lah. Pide perdón por tus faltas y por los hombres y mujeres creyentes. Pues Al-lah sabe el lugar por el que os movéis y el lugar en el que estáis.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جان لے کہ اللہ کے سوائے کوئی معبود نہیں اور تیرے حق میں جو (تیری منکر قوم نے) گناہ [1]کیے ہیں ان کے لئے خدا سے معافی مانگتا رہ اور مومن مردوں اور مومن عورتوں کے بارے میں بھی معافی مانگتا رہ کہ اللہ ان کی کوتاہیوں کو معاف کر دے اور اللہ تمہارے ادھر ادھر پھرنے اور کسی جگہ ٹھہرنے کو خوب جانتا ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

پس اے نبیؐ، خوب جان لو کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی عبادت کا مستحق نہیں ہے، اور معافی مانگو اپنے قصور کے لیے بھی اور مومن مردوں اور عورتوں کے لیے بھی اللہ تمہاری سرگرمیوں کو بھی جانتا ہے اور تمہارے ٹھکانے سے بھی واقف ہے

English - Sahih

So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows of your movement and your resting place.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

پس جان لو کہ سوائے الله کے کوئی معبود نہیں اور اپنے اور مسلمان مردوں اور مسلمان عورتوں کے گناہوں کی معافی مانگیئے اور الله ہی تمہارے لوٹنے اور آرام کرنے کی جگہ کو جانتا ہے

English - Talal Itani

So know that [He] - (there is) no god but Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and the believing women. And Allah knows your movement and your resting places.

English - Arberry

Know thou therefore that there is no god but God, and ask forgiveness for thy sin, and for the believers, men and women. God knows your going to and fro, and your lodging.

English - Maududi

Know, therefore, (O Prophet), that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for your shortcomings and also for (the shortcomings of) believing men and believing women. Allah knows the places where you move about and where you dwell.
