وَإِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَقُلْ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۖ أَنَّهُۥ مَنْ عَمِلَ مِنكُمْ سُوٓءًۢا بِجَهَٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

And when those who believe in Our Signs come to thee, say: ‘Peace be unto you! Your Lord has taken it upon Himself to show mercy, so that whoso among you does evil ignorantly, and repents thereafter and amends, then He is Most Forgiving, Merciful.’

And when those who believe in Our Signs come to thee, say: ‘Peace be unto you! [a]Your Lord has taken it upon Himself to show mercy, so that [b]whoso among you does evil ignorantly, and repents thereafter and amends, then He is Most Forgiving and Merciful.’[800]

Commentary:

The message conveyed in the words, Peace be unto you, is the Message of God which the Holy Prophet is bidden to convey to believers; the "peace" spoken of is to come from God Himself. It is with reference to this "peace" promised to believers in the present verse that they are enjoined to greet one another with the words السلام علیکم i.e. "may the (promised) peace be on you." The reader will have noted that whereas the verse uses the word salam (peace), the word used in the formula of mutual greeting is as-salam (the peace). This is to point out that the greeting of peace offered is in conformity with the peace promised in the verse under comment.

And when those, who believe in Our Signs come to thee, say: ‘Peace be unto you! [b]Your Lord has taken it upon Himself to show mercy, so that [c]whoso among you does evil in ignorance and repents thereafter and reforms, then He is Most Forgiving and Merciful.’

اور جب تیرے پاس وہ لوگ آئیں جو ہماری آیات پر ایمان لاتے ہیں تو (ان سے) کہا کر تم پر سلام ہو۔ (تمہارے لئے) تمہارے ربّ نے اپنے اوپر رحمت فرض کردی ہے۔ (یعنی) یہ کہ تم میں سے جو کوئی جہالت سے بدی کا ارتکاب کرے پھر اس کے بعد توبہ کرلے اور اصلاح کرلے تو (یاد رکھے کہ) وہ (یعنی اللہ) یقیناً بہت بخشنے والا (اور) بار بار رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

French

Et quand ceux qui croient à Nos Signes viennent à toi, dis : «La paix soit avec vous ! Votre Seigneur S’est imposé à Lui-Même de faire miséricorde, de sorte que pour quiconque parmi vous, après avoir fait un mal par ignorance, s’en repent ensuite et s’amende, Il est Très-Pardonnant, Miséricordieux. »

German

Und wenn jene, die an Unsere Zeichen glauben, zu dir kommen, so sprich: "Friede sei mit euch! Euer Herr hat Sich Selbst Barmherzigkeit vorgeschrieben; wenn einer von euch unwissentlich etwas Böses tut und hernach bereut und sich bessert, so ist Er allvergebend, barmherzig."

当信仰我的迹象的人来到你那里时, 你向他们说: “祝你们平安! [f]你们的养主已注定了自己 (对你们) 施行仁慈。” (同样地,) [g]凡由于无知而错误, 然后悔改的人, 那么 (对於他), 安拉是极为宽恕的, 永久仁慈的。

E quando coloro che credono nei Nostri segni verranno da te, di': «La pace sia su di voi! Il vostro Signore si è assunto l'incarico di mostrare misericordia, sì che colui che tra di voi fa il male ignorando di farlo e poi si pente e si corregge, allora Egli è Colui che sommamente perdona, il Misericordioso.»

Spanish

Cuando vengan a ti quienes creen en Nuestros Signos, diles: “¡que la paz sea con vosotros!”. Vuestro Señor se ha impuesto a Sí mismo mostrar misericordia para ser -con aquellos de vosotros que hagan el mal por ignorancia y después se arrepientan y se reformen- el Sumo Indulgente y Misericordioso”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اورجب تیرے پاس وہ لوگ آئیں جو ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان لاتے ہیں تو تو (انہیں) کہہ تم پر ہمیشہ سلامتی ہو۔ تمہارے رب نے اپنے آپ پر (تمہارے لئے) رحمت کو فرض کر لیا ہے (اس طرح) کہ تم میں سے جو (کوئی) غفلت میں کوئی بدی کر بیٹھے گا پھر وہ اس کے بعد توبہ کرلے گا اور اصلاح کرے گا۔ تو اس (خدا) کی صفت یہ ہے کہ وہ بہت بخشنے والا (اور) باربار رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

جب تمہارے پاس وہ لوگ آئیں جو ہماری آیات پر ایمان لاتے ہیں تو ان سے کہو "تم پر سلامتی ہے تمہارے رب نے رحم و کرم کا شیوہ اپنے اوپر لازم کر لیا ہے یہ اس کا رحم و کرم ہی ہے کہ اگر تم میں سے کوئی نادانی کے ساتھ کسی برائی کا ارتکاب کر بیٹھا ہو پھر اس کے بعد توبہ کرے اور اصلاح کر لے تو وہ اُسے معاف کر دیتا ہے اور نرمی سے کام لیتا ہے"

English - Sahih

And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."

اور ہماری آیتوں کو ماننے والے جب تیرے پاس آئیں تو کہہ دو کہ تم پر سلام ہے تمہارے رب نے اپنے ذمہ رحمت لازم کی ہےجو تم میں سے ناواقفیت سے برائی کرے پھر اس کے بعد توبہ کرے اور نیک ہو جائے تو بےشک وہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے

And when those who believe in Our signs come to thee, say, 'Peace be upon you. Your Lord has prescribed for Himself mercy. Whosoever of you does evil in ignorance, and thereafter repents and makes amends, He is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.'
