وَكَذَٰلِكَ فَتَنَّا بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لِّيَقُولُوٓا۟ أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنۢ بَيْنِنَآ ۗ أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And in like manner have We tried some of them by others, that they may say, ‘Is it these whom Allah has favoured from among us?’ Does not Allah know best those who are grateful?

And in like manner have We tried some of them by others, that they may say, [a]‘Is it these whom Allah has favoured from among us?’ Does not Allah know best those who are grateful?[799]

11:28.

Commentary:

The words, We have tried some of them by others, refer to God’s trying the rich and the great by admitting the poor and the humble into the society of the followers of the Holy Prophet. The presence of the poor in the community of the believers served as a stumbling-block in the way of the rich and hindered the more haughty among them from entering into the fellowship of Islam.

The rich and the great ask whether God had chosen those poor men for His favours, as if saying, "We are wealthy and rich, but God has preferred the poor to us and has bestowed His favour upon them rather than upon us." God answers the question by saying, "I gave them little, but they have been thankful to Me even for that and have accepted My Messenger. I gave you much, but you have not been grateful and have rejected My Messenger. Do not the poor then deserve to be chosen for My favour in preference to you?" See also the preceding verse.

And in like manner have We tried some of them by others, that they may say, [a]‘Is it these[853] whom Allah has favoured from among us?’ Does not Allah know best those who are grateful?

11:28.

Generally, presence of the poor in the community of believers proves a stumbling-block in the way of the rich to accept the new Message.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور اسی طرح ہم ان میں سے بعض کو بعض کے ذریعہ آزمائش میں ڈالتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ وہ کہنے لگتے ہیں کہ کیا ہمارے درمیان (بس) یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن پر اللہ نے احسان کیا ہے۔ کیا اللہ شکر گزاروں کو سب سے زیادہ نہیں جانتا۔

French

Et pareillement, Nous avons éprouvé certains d’entre eux par d’autres, afin qu’ils disent : « Est-ce ceux-ci qu’Allāh a favorisés parmi nous ? » Allāh ne sait-Il pas mieux que quiconque lesquels sont reconnaissants ?

Ähnlich haben Wir einige von ihnen durch andere auf die Probe gestellt, so dass sie sagen möchten: "Sind es diese, denen Allah huldreich gewesen ist aus unserer Mitte?" Kennt Allah denn nicht am besten die Dankbaren?

我这样在他们中以一些人考验另一些人, 以便他们 (受考验的人) 说: [e]“安拉对我们中这些 (卑下的) 人[426]施了恩惠?” (是的,) 难道安拉不是最知道感恩的人的?

一般说来，在信者社团中的穷 (苦的) 人，证明是富人接受新使命道路上的绊脚石。

E similmente Noi abbiamo messo alla prova alcuni di essi per via degli altri, sì che possano dire: «Sono questi coloro fra noi che Allah ha favorito»? Forse che Allah non conosce meglio di altri coloro che sono riconoscenti?

Spanish

Y de igual manera probamos a algunos de ellos con otros para que pudieran decir: “¿Son éstos a quienes Dios ha favorecido de entre nosotros?” ¿Acaso no conoce Al-lah mejor a los agradecidos?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ہم نے ان میں سے بعض کو بعض کے ذریعہ سے اس طرح آزمایا ہے تا کہ وہ (ابتلاء میں ڈالے ہوئے لوگ) کہیں کہ کیا اللہ نے ہم میں سے ان (ذلیل) لوگوں پر احسان کیا ہے (ٹھیک ہے) کیا خدا شکر گزاروں کو (سب سے زیادہ) نہیں جانتا؟

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

دراصل ہم نے اس طرح ان لوگوں میں سے بعض کو بعض کے ذریعہ سے آزمائش میں ڈالا ہے تاکہ وہ اِنہیں دیکھ کر کہیں "کیا یہ ہیں وہ لوگ جن پر ہمارے درمیان اللہ کا فضل و کرم ہوا ہے؟" ہاں! کیا خدا اپنے شکر گزار بندوں کو اِن سے زیادہ نہیں جانتا ہے؟

English - Sahih

And thus We have tried some of them through others that the disbelievers might say, "Is it these whom Allah has favored among us?" Is not Allah most knowing of those who are grateful?

اور اسی طرح ہم نے بعض کو بعض کے ذریعہ سے آزمایا ہے تاکہ یہ لوگ کہیں کیا یہی ہیں ہم میں سے جن پر الله نے فضل کیا ہے کیا الله شکر گزارو ں کو جاننے والا نہیں ہے
