سَخِطَ , aor.
سَخَطَ , inf. n. سَخَطٌ (S, * Msb, K *)
[and مَسْخَطٌ, (see سُخْطٌ, below,)] He was, or
became, displeased, or discontented; (S, * K, TA;)
as also ↓ تسخّط; (K, TA;) syns. كَرِهَ and تَكَرَّهَ
[the latter of which, app. referring particularly to
↓ تسخّط, properly and generally signifies, when
intrans., he expressed, or showed, dislike, displeasure, disapprobation, discontent, or hatred]:
(TA:) he was, or became, angry; (S, Msb, TA;)
and ↓ تسخّط signifies the same; or he became
angered; syn. تَغَضَّبَ. (TA.) You say, سَخِطَ عَلَيْهِ
[He was, or became, displeased, or discontented,
or angry, with him]. (Kur v. 83.) And سَخِطَهُ
He was, or became, displeased, or discontented,
with him; as also ↓ تسخّطهُ; both expl. by لَمْ
يَرْضَ بِهِ; (Ham p. 502;) and the latter by تَكَرَّهَهُ
[which signifies as above, like كَرِهَهُ, and also
he expressed, or showed, dislike of it, displeasure
with it, disapprobation of it, discontent with it,
or hatred of it]; (K, TA;) and لَمْ يَرْضَهُ; (TA;)
as in the saying, ↓ كُلَّمَا عَمِلْتُ لَهُ عَمَلًا تَسَخَّطَهُ
[Every time that I did for him a deed, he expressed, or showed, dislike of it, &c.]; and in
like manner, ↓ أَعْطَاهُ قَلِيلًا فَتَسَخَّطَهُ [He gave him
little and he expressed, or showed, dislike of it,
&c.]: (TA:) and [hence,] تَسَخَّطَ ↓ عَطَآءَهُ He
deemed his gift little, and it did not stand with
him in any stead; expl. by اِسْتَقَلَّهُ وَلَمْ يَقَعْ مِنْهُ
مَوْقِعًا. (S, K.) You say also, اَللّٰهُ يَسْخَطُ لَكُمْ كَذَا,
meaning God forbiddeth you such a thing: or
will punish you for such a thing: or it may refer
to the desire of punishing for it. (TA.)
