وَحَآجَّهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ ۚ قَالَ أَتُحَٰٓجُّوٓنِّى فِى ٱللَّهِ وَقَدْ هَدَىٰنِ ۚ وَلَآ أَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ رَبِّى شَيْـًٔا ۗ وَسِعَ رَبِّى كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا ۗ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And his people argued with him. He said: ‘Do you argue with me concerning Allah when He has guided me aright? And I fear not that which you associate with Him, unless my Lord will something. My Lord comprehends all things in His knowledge. Will you not then be admonished?

English - Five Volume Translation

And his people argued with him. He said, ‘Do you argue with me concerning Allah when He has guided me aright? And I fear not that which you associate with Him, unless my Lord wills anything. [a]My Lord comprehends all things in His knowledge. Will you not then be admonished?[826]

7:90.

Commentary:

This and the following two verses definitely show that the incident related in vv. 77-80 above was purposely used by Abraham by way of argument; otherwise he himself was a staunch monotheist and had dived deep into the depths of Divine love and knowledge.

English - Short Commentary Translation

And his people argued with him. He said, ‘Do you argue with me concerning Allah when He has guided me aright? And I fear not that which you associate with Him except that I fear what my Lord wills. [b]My Lord comprehends all things in His knowledge. Will you not then be admonished?

7:90.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور اس کی قوم اس سے جھگڑتی رہی۔ اس نے کہا کیا تم اللہ کے بارہ میں مجھ سے جھگڑتے ہو جبکہ وہ مجھے ہدایت دے چکا ہے اور میں ان چیزوں (کے گزند) سے بالکل نہیں ڈرتا جنہیں تم اس کا شریک بنا رہے ہو۔ (میں کچھ نہیں چاہتا) سوائے اس کے کہ میرا ربّ کچھ چاہے۔ میرا ربّ ہر چیز پر علم کے لحاظ سے حاوی ہے۔ پس کیا تم نصیحت نہیں پکڑو گے ؟

French

Et son peuple discuta avec lui. Il dit : « Discuterez-vous avec moi au sujet d’Allāh, qui m’a guidé sur le droit chemin ? Et je ne crains pas les associés que vous Lui donnez, sauf ce que veut mon Seigneur. Dans Sa science, mon Seigneur comprend toutes choses. Ne voulez-vous donc pas être avertis ?

German

Und sein Volk stritt mit ihm. Da sagte er: "Streitet ihr mit mir über Allah, da Er mich schon recht geleitet hat? Und ich fürchte nicht das, was ihr Ihm zur Seite stellt, sondern nur das, was mein Herr will. Mein Herr umfasst alle Dinge mit Wissen. Wollt ihr denn nicht verstehen?

他的民族企图辩倒他, 他说: “关于安拉, 你们同我辩论吗? 殊不知他自己领导了我, 我不怕你们所妄作的与安拉同等的崇拜对象, 我只怕我的养主的任何意向。[b]我的养主具有一切东西的知识。难道你们还不了解?”

E la sua gente prese a discutere con lui. Egli disse: «Discutete voi con me di Allah, quando Egli mi ha guidato bene? Ma io non temo quello che voi Gli associate, ma ciò che vuole il mio Signore. Il mio Signore comprende tutte le cose nella Sua sapienza. Non vorrete dunque essere ammoniti?»

Spanish

Y su pueblo discutió con él. Y dijo: “¿Discutís conmigo respecto a Al-lah, siendo así que Él me ha guiado por el camino recto? Mas yo no temo a lo que asociáis a Él, a menos que mi Señor quiera algo. Mi Señor abarca todas las cosas en Su conocimiento ¿no estaréis, pues, prevenidos?”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور اس کی قوم نے اس سے بحث کرکے جیتنا چاہا (تو) اس نے کہا کہ کیا تم مجھ سے اللہ کے بارہ میں بحث کرتے ہو حالانکہ اس نے خود مجھے ہدایت دی ہے اور جسے تم اللہ کا شریک بناتے ہو میں اس سے نہیں ڈرتا۔ ہاں اگر میرا رب کسی بات کا ارادہ کرے (تو اس سے ڈرتا ہوں) میرے رب نے ہر اک چیز کا علم سے احاطہ کیا ہوا ہے پھر کیا تم سمجھتے نہیں۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اس کی قوم اس سے جھگڑنے لگی تو اس نے قوم سے کہا "کیا تم لوگ اللہ کے معاملہ میں مجھ سے جھگڑتے ہو؟ حالانکہ اس نے مجھے راہ راست دکھا دی ہے اور میں تمہارے ٹھیرائے ہوئے شریکوں سے نہیں ڈرتا، ہاں اگر میرا رب کچھ چاہے تو وہ ضرور ہو سکتا ہے میرے رب کا علم ہر چیز پر چھایا ہوا ہے، پھر کیا تم ہوش میں نہ آؤ گے؟

English - Sahih

And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?

اور اس کی قوم نے اس سے جھگڑا کیا اس نے کہا کیا تم مجھ سے الله کے ایک ہونے میں جھگڑتے ہو اور اس نے میری رہنمائی کی ہے اور جنہیں تم شریک کرتے ہو میں ان سے نہیں ڈرتا مگر یہ کہ میرا رب مجھے کوئی تکلیف پہنچانا چاہے میرے رب نے علم کے لحاظ سے سب چیزوں پر احاطہ کیا ہوا ہے کیا تم سوچتے نہیں

And argued with him his people. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while certainly He has guided me? And not (do) I fear what you associate with Him, unless [that] wills my Lord anything. Encompasses my Lord every thing (in) knowledge. Then will not you take heed?

His. people remonstrated with him whereupon Abraharn said: 'Do you remonstrate with me concerning Allah Who has guided me to the right way? I do not fear those whom you associate with Allah in His divinity. Only that which my Lord wills, indeed that alone will come by. My Lord embraces all things within His knowledge. Will you not take heed?

His people argued with him. He said: Dispute ye with me concerning Allah when He hath guided me? I fear not at all that which ye set up beside Him unless my Lord willeth aught. My Lord includeth all things in His knowledge. Will ye not then remember?
