48:7

وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُشْرِكَٰتِ ٱلظَّآنِّينَ بِٱللَّهِ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۚ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۖ وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَنَهُمْ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And that He may punish the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women, and the idolatrous men and the idolatrous women, who entertain evil thoughts concerning Allah. On them shall fall an evil calamity; and the wrath of Allah is upon them. And He has cursed them, and has prepared Hell for them. And that indeed is an evil destination.

And that He may punish the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women[b], and the idolatrous men and the idolatrous women, who entertain evil thoughts concerning Allah. [c]On them shall fall an evil calamity; and the wrath of Allah is upon them. And He has cursed them, and has prepared Hell for them. And that indeed is an evil destination.[3821]

Important Words:

دائرة (calamity) is derived from دار which means, it (an event) came about. دار الدھر means, the time took a turn; it changed. دار بینھم الکأس means, the wine-cup went round them. دائرة means, the circuit of a thing; an evil turn of fortune; calamity; defeat; rout; slaughter; death. دارت علیھم الدوائر means, calamities befell them (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

The verse means that every turn of fortune adds to the faith of believers and any addition to faith of believers increases the heart-burning and jealousy of disbelievers and the hypocrites. The latter had entertained the false hope that the terms of the Treaty of Hudaibiyyah would bring about a weakening of faith among the believers but the opposite happened and this caused heart-burning among them.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور تاکہ وہ عذاب دے منافق مردوں اور منافق عورتوں کو اور مشرک مردوں اور مشرک عورتوں کو جو اللہ پر بدگمانی کرتے ہیں۔ مصائب کی گردش خود انہی پر پڑے گی اور اللہ ان پر غضبناک ہے اور ان پر لعنت کرتا ہے اور اس نے ان کے لئے جہنم تیار کی ہے اور وہ بہت بُرا ٹھکانا ہے۔

French

Et afin qu’Il puisse châtier les hypocrites, hommes et femmes, et les idolâtres, hommes et femmes, qui nourrissent de mauvaises pensées envers Allāh. Ils seront frappés par le mauvais sort de la vicissitude ; et Allāh est courroucé contre eux. Et Il les a maudits, et Il a préparé l'Enfer pour eux. Et cela, vraiment, est une mauvaise destination.

German

und die Heuchler und Heuchlerinnen und die Götzendiener und Götzendienerinnen strafe, die schlimme Gedanken über Allah hegen. Auf solche wird ein böses Unheil niederfallen; Allah zürnte ihnen, und Er hat sie von Sich gewiesen und hat die Hölle für sie bereitet. Und eine üble Bestimmung ist das.

(这也是) 为了[b]他惩罚那些对安拉抱有邪恶观念的伪信的男女和崇拜偶像的男女。[c]他们将遭遇不幸的灾难, 面临安拉的恼怒。他已离弃他们并为他们准备了火狱。那归宿真坏呀!

Italian

e perché Egli possa punire gli uomini e le donne ipocriti, e gli uomini e le donne idolatri, che nutrono pensieri iniqui su Allah. Contro di loro si volgerà la ruota della sfortuna, e l'ira di Allah è su di essi. Ed Egli li ha maledetti e ha preparato per loro l'Inferno. E questa è, in verità, un'iniqua destinazione.

Spanish

Y para castigar a los hombres hipócritas y a las mujeres hipócritas y a los hombres idólatras y a las mujeres idólatras, que abrigan malos pensamientos sobre Al-lah. Sobre ellos pasará la rueda del infortunio; y la cólera de Al-lah. Él los ha maldecido y les ha preparado el Infierno. ¡Qué mal destino es en verdad!

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور تا کہ منافق مردوں اور منافق عورتوں اور مشرک مردوں اور مشرک عورتوں کو جو اللہ پر بدگمانی کرنے والے ہیں عذاب[2] دے۔ مصیبت کا چکر انہی پر آئے گا اور اللہ نے ان پر غضب نازل کیا ہے اور اپنی درگاہ سے ان کو دور کر دیا ہے اور ان کے لئے اس نے جہنم تیار کر رکھی ہے‘ جو بہت برا ٹھکانا ہے۔

یعنی مومنوں کے ایمان کی زیادتی منافق مردوں اور منافق عورتوں کے عذاب کا موجب ہو جائے گی۔ یعنی وہ تو یہ امید رکھتے تھے کہ ان حالات میں مومن متزلزل ہو جائیں گے۔ لیکن نتیجہ اُلٹا نکلا کہ وہ ایمان میں اور بھی بڑھ گئے پس منافقوں اور مشرکوں کے ہاتھ میں سوائے کڑھنے اور جلنے کے عذاب کے کچھ بھی نہ آیا۔ اسی طرح ان لوگوں کے ہاتھ بھی کچھ نہ آیا۔ جو اللہ تعالیٰ پر بدگمانی کرتے تھے۔ اور سمجھتے تھے کہ ان کی تدبیریں اسلام کو نقصان پہنچائیں گی۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اور اُن منافق مردوں اور عورتوں اور مشرک مردوں اور عورتوں کو سزا دے جو اللہ کے متعلق برے گمان رکھتے ہیں برائی کے پھیر میں وہ خود ہی آ گئے، اللہ کا غضب ان پر ہوا اور اس نے ان پر لعنت کی اور ان کے لیے جہنم مہیا کر دی جو بہت ہی برا ٹھکانا ہے

English - Sahih

And [that] He may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and polytheist women - those who assume about Allah an assumption of evil nature. Upon them is a misfortune of evil nature; and Allah has become angry with them and has cursed them and prepared for them Hell, and evil it is as a destination.

اور تاکہ منافق مردوں اور عورتوں کواور مشرک مردوں اور عورتوں کو عذاب دے جو الله کے بارے میں براگمان رکھتے ہیں انہیں پر بری گردش ہے اور الله نے ان پر غضب نازل کیا اور ان پر لعنت کی اوران کے لیے دوزخ تیار کر رکھا ہےاور وہ برا ٹھکانہ ہے

And He (may) punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women and the polytheist men and the polytheist women, who assume about Allah an assumption evil. and that He may chastise the hypocrites, men and women alike, and the idolaters men and women alike, and those who think evil thoughts of God; against them shall be the evil turn of fortune. God is wroth with them, and has cursed them, and has prepared for them Gehenna -- an evil homecoming!

English - Maududi

(He also did this) to chastise the hypocrites, both men and women, and those who associate others in His Divinity, both men and women, and who harbour evil thoughts about Allah. They shall be afflicted with misfortune, Allah is wroth with them. He has laid His curse upon them and has prepared for them Hell. What an evil end!

And that He may punish men and women (who are) hypocrites, and idolaters and idolatresses who entertain evil notions of God: It is against them that the wheel of misfortune will turn, and God will be wroth with them, and condemn them. For them He has prepared Hell, an evil destination!
