قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ ۚ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

They will say: ‘Did not your Messengers come to you with manifest Signs?’ They will say: ‘Yea.’ The Keepers will say, ‘Then pray on.’ But the prayer of disbelievers is of no avail.

English - Five Volume Translation

They will say: [e]‘Did not your Messengers come to you with manifest Signs?’ They will say: ‘Yea.’ The Keepers will say, ‘Then pray on.’ [f]But the prayer of disbelievers is of no avail.[3531]

13:15.

Commentary:

The verse signifies that the efforts of disbelievers against God’s Prophets always prove futile and abortive, not that their prayers are not accepted. God does answer the prayers of a distressed person when he calls upon Him whether he be a believer or disbeliever (27:63). The verse only means that it is the prayers of disbelievers against the Prophets of God that go in vain.

The Keepers will say, [d]‘Did not your Messengers come to you with manifest Signs?’ They will say, ‘Yea.’ The Keepers will say, ‘Then pray on.’ [a]But the prayer of disbelievers is of no avail.[2610]

The efforts and prayers of disbelievers against God’s Prophets prove abortive, not that all their prayers as such are not accepted. God does answer the prayers of a distressed person when he calls upon Him whether he be a believer or a disbeliever (27:63).

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

وہ کہیں گے تو پھر کیا تمہارے پاس تمہارے رسول کھلے کھلے نشانات کے ساتھ نہیں آتے رہے؟ وہ کہیں گے ہاں! کیوں نہیں۔ وہ جواب دیں گے پھر دعا کرو مگرکافروں کی دعا بے کار جانے کے سوا کوئی حیثیت نہیں رکھتی۔

French

Ils diront : « Vos Messagers ne sont-ils pas venus à vous avec des Signes manifestes ? » Ils diront : « Si ! » Les Gardiens répondront : « Donc priez. » Mais la prière des mécréants n’est que peine perdue.

German

Sie werden sprechen: "Kamen nicht eure Gesandten zu euch mit klaren Beweisen?" Jene werden sprechen: "Doch." (Die Wächter) werden sprechen: "So fahret fort zu beten." Doch das Gebet der Ungläubigen ist vergebens.

他们 (管理火狱的天使) 说: [d]“你们的使者不曾带着明显的迹象来到你们?” 他们将说: “是的。” 他们 (天使) 将说: “那么, 你们便 (尽情地) 祈祷吧, [e]但不信者的祈祷是无效的。”[1166]

不信的人反对安拉派遣的先知的种种努力和祈祷是徒劳的, 但不是他们所有的祈祷都是不会被接受的。一个贫苦的人, 不论是信者或不信者, 当他向安拉祈求时, 安拉总会回答他的祈祷的 (27:63)。

Italian

I custodi risponderanno: «I vostri messaggeri non sono forse venuti a voi con segni evidenti?» Quelli diranno: «Sì.» I custodi replicheranno: «Allora pregate pure.» Ma la preghiera dei miscredenti non serve a nulla.

Spanish

Responderán: “¿Acaso no os llegaron vuestros Mensajeros con Signos manifiestos?”. Contestarán: “Sí”. Los Guardianes les replicarán: “Entonces rezad”. Pero la oración de los incrédulos no sirve de nada.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

وہ کہیں گے کہ کیا تمہارے پاس تمہارے رسول دلائل لے کر نہیں آئے تھے وہ کہیں گے ہاں۔ کیوں نہیں! اس پر وہ (دوزخ کے داروغے) کہیں گے‘ اب تم (جتنا چاہو) پکارتے جاؤ۔ اور کافروں کی دعا رائیگاں ہی جاتی ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

وہ پوچھیں گے "کیا تمہارے پاس تمہارے رسول بینات لے کر نہیں آتے رہے تھے؟" وہ کہیں گے "ہاں"جہنم کے اہل کار بولیں گے: "پھر تو تم ہی دعا کرو، اور کافروں کی دعا اکارت ہی جانے والی ہے"

English - Sahih

They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error."

وہ کہیں گے کیا تمہارے پاس تمہارے رسول نشانیاں لے کر نہ آئے تھے کہیں گے ہاں (آئے تھے) کہیں گے پس پکارو اور کافروں کا پکارنا محض بے سود ہو گا

They (will) say, "Did there not come to you your Messengers with clear proofs?" They (will) say, "Yes." They (will) say, "Then call, but not (is the) call (of) the disbelievers except in error."

English - Arberry

They shall say, 'Did not your Messengers bring you the clear signs?' They shall say, 'Yes indeed.' They shall say, 'Then do you call!' But the calling of the unbelievers is only in error.

English - Maududi

The keepers of Hell will ask: “Did your Messengers not come to you with Clear Signs?” They will say: “Yes (they did).” The keepers of Hell will say: “Then you yourselves should call (upon the Lord). And the call of the unbelievers will end in vain.”

They will say: "Did not your apostles come to you with clear proofs?" They will answer: "Indeed, they did." "Then pray," will (the warders) say. But the praying of unbelievers will be all in vain.

They will say: "Did there not come to you your messengers with Clear Signs?" They will say, "Yes". They will reply, "Then pray (as ye like)! But the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile wandering) in (mazes of) error!"
