فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ

So We forgave him that; and indeed, he had a position of nearness with Us and an excellent retreat.

So We forgave him that; and indeed, he had a position of nearness with Us and an excellent retreat.[3396]

Important Words:

غفرنا (We forgave him). غفر الشیء means, he concealed or hid the thing. غفر الله له: God forgave him his sins. غفر الامر means, he set right the affair (Lane & Aqrab). See also 2:59, 200, 286 & 14:42.

Commentary:

The expression غفرنا له may mean, "We gave him Our protection" or "We set his affairs right." The words, "he had a position of nearness with Us and an excellent retreat," show that David did not suffer from any moral defect and spiritual weakness; rather they most effectively negate and demolish the wicked charge of David having committed adultery as imputed to him by the Bible (2 Samuel, 11:4, 5).

English - Short Commentary Translation

So We forgave him his default; and, indeed, he had a position of nearness with Us and an excellent resort.[2526]

The expression Ghafarna la-hu may mean, 'We gave him Our protection,' or, 'We set his affairs right' (Lane). The words, 'he had a position of nearness with Us and an excellent resort,' show that David did not suffer from any moral defect or spiritual weakness, and most effectively negative and demolish the wicked charge of David having committed adultery as imputed to him by the Bible (2 Sam. 11: 4 & 5).

پس ہم نے اس کو یہ (قصور) بخش دیا۔ اور یقیناً اُسے ہمارے ہاں ایک قربت اور اچھا مقام حاصل تھا۔

Alors Nous lui pardonnâmes cela ; et en vérité, il avait un rang proche de Nous, et aura un excellent lieu de retour.

所以我宽恕了他的[1108] (那个弱点); 他在我的面前享有亲近的地位和优美的归宿。

غَفَرْنَا لَهٗ (Ghafarna la-hu) 的意思可以是, “我们保护了他”, 或 “我们把他的事情搞好了”(Lane)。“他在我的面前具有近的地位和优美的归宿。”这句话表明, 达五德没有任何道德上的缺点或精神弱点, 并且有效地否定和推翻了 «圣经» 强加给他的所谓犯了通奸罪的恶意指控 (《撒母耳记下》11:4-5)。

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

تب ہم نے اس کی ان سب کمزوریوں[4] پر پردہ ڈال دیا‘ کیونکہ حقیقتہ داؤد ہمارا مقرب تھا اور اسے ہمارے پاس اچھا ٹھکانا ملے گا[5]۔

یہ کمزوریاں جسمانی تھیں‘ روحانی نہیں تھیں۔

اگر واقعہ میں وہ کسی کی بیوی چھینتا یا کمزور قبائل کو ظلماً اپنے ماتحت کرتا تو ہمارا پیارا کس طرح ہو سکتا تھا۔

تب ہم نے اس کا وہ قصور معاف کیا اور یقیناً ہمارے ہاں اس کے لیے تقرب کا مقام اور بہتر انجام ہے

So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.

پھر ہم نے اس کی یہ غلطی معاف کر دی اور اس کے لیے ہمارے ہاں مرتبہ اور اچھا ٹھکانہ ہے

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

یہ کمزوریاں جسمانی تھیں‘ روحانی نہیں تھیں۔

اگر واقعہ میں وہ کسی کی بیوی چھینتا یا کمزور قبائل کو ظلماً اپنے ماتحت کرتا تو ہمارا پیارا کس طرح ہو سکتا تھا۔

Accordingly We forgave him that, and he has a near place in Our presence and a fair resort.

English - Maududi

Thereupon We forgave him his shortcoming and indeed (an exalted position of) nearness awaits him, and an excellent resort.

So We forgave him. He has surely a high rank with Us and an excellent place of return.

So We forgave him this (lapse): he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful place of (Final) Return.
