وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيقًا يَلْوُۥنَ أَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِتَحْسَبُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And, surely, among them is a section who twist their tongues while reciting the Book; that you may think it to be part of the Book, while it is not part of the Book. And they say, ‘It is from Allah;’ while it is not from Allah; and they utter a lie against Allah knowingly.

And, surely, among them is a section [a]who twist their tongues while reciting the Book; that you may think it to be part of the Book, while it is not part of the Book. And they say, ‘It is from Allah;’ while it is not from Allah; and they utter a lie against Allah knowingly.[367]

Commentary:

The clause, who twist their tongues while reciting the Book, alludes to an evil practice of some Jews in the time of the Holy Prophet. They would recite a passage in Hebrew in such a manner as would deceive the hearers into believing that it was the Torah that was being recited. The word "Book" used thrice in this verse means "a passage in Hebrew" in the first place and "the Torah" in the last two. The passage is spoken of as "the Book" because the Jews tried to make it appear as such.

And, surely, among them is a party [a]who twist their tongues while reciting the Book[431] that you may think it to be part of the Book, while it is not part of the Book. And they say, ‘It is from Allah;’ while it is not from Allah; and they utter a lie against Allah while they know.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور یقیناً ان (اہلِ کتاب) میں ایک گروہ ایسا بھی ہے جو کتاب پڑھتے وقت اپنی زبانوں کو بَل دیتا ہے تاکہ تم اسے کتاب میں سے سمجھو حالانکہ وہ کتاب میں سے نہیں۔ اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ وہ اللہ کی طرف سے ہے جبکہ وہ اللہ کی طرف سے نہیں۔ اور وہ اللہ پر جھوٹ باندھتے ہیں باوجودیکہ وہ جانتے ہیں۔

French

Et assurément il en est parmi eux qui roulent leur langue en récitant le Livre pour vous faire croire que c’est une partie du Livre, alors que ce n’est pas une partie du Livre. Et ils disent : « Cela provient d’Allāh, » alors que cela ne provient pas d’Allāh ; et ils mentent contre Allāh alors qu’ils le savent.

German

Und fürwahr, unter ihnen ist ein Teil, die verdrehen mit ihren Zungen die Schrift (Thora), damit ihr es als aus der Schrift vermutet, während es doch nicht aus der Schrift ist. Und sie sprechen: "Es ist von Allah"; und es ist doch nicht von Allah; und sie äußern wissentlich eine Lüge gegen Allah.

他们中[d]有一伙人弯曲舌头附会天经, 以便你们认为那是天经的组成部分, 其实, 那并不是天经的部分。他们说: 这是出自安拉, 其实那并不是出自安拉。他们故意假借安拉的名义编造谎言。

E invero, vi sono alcuni tra loro che contorcono le loro lingue mentre recitano il libro, sì che potreste pensare che sia parte del libro, mentre non è parte del libro. Ed essi dicono: «Proviene da Allah», mentre non proviene da Allah; e pronunciano una menzogna contro Allah, consapevolmente.

Spanish

Y en verdad, entre ellos hay una parte que tuercen la lengua mientras recitan el Libro; para que penséis que es parte del Libro, aunque no lo es. Y dicen: “Esto procede de Al-lah”, siendo así que no procede de Él; y profieren a sabiendas una mentira contra Al-lah.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ان میں سے ایک گروہ یقیناً (ایسا) ہے جو اپنی زبانوں کو کتاب (یعنی تورات) کے ذریعہ سے مروڑتا[3] ہے تا کہ تم اسے (جو وہ کہتا ہے) کتاب میں سے سمجھو حالانکہ وہ کتاب میں سے نہیں ہوتا۔ اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ وہ اللہ کی طرف سے ہے حالانکہ وہ اللہ کی طرف سے نہیں اور وہ جانتے (بوجھتے) ہوئے اللہ پر جھوٹ باندھتے ہیں۔

یعنی تورات کی تلاوت کے طور پر انسانی عبارتوں کو پڑھتا ہے تاکہ لوگوں کو دھوکہ لگ جائے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اُن میں کچھ لوگ ایسے ہیں جو کتاب پڑھتے ہوئے اس طرح زبان کا الٹ پھیر کرتے ہیں کہ تم سمجھو جو کچھ وہ پڑھ رہے ہیں وہ کتاب ہی کی عبارت ہے، حالانکہ وہ کتاب کی عبارت نہیں ہوتی، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ جو کچھ ہم پڑھ رہے ہیں یہ خدا کی طرف سے ہے، حالانکہ وہ خدا کی طرف سے نہیں ہوتا، وہ جان بوجھ کر جھوٹ بات اللہ کی طرف منسوب کر دیتے ہیں

English - Sahih

And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "This is from Allah," but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اوربے شک ان میں سے ایک جماعت ہے کہ کتاب کو زبان مروڑ کر پڑھتے ہیں تاکہ تم یہ خیال کرو کہ وہ کتاب میں سے ہے حالانکہ وہ کتاب میں سے نہیں ہے اوروہ کہتے ہیں کہ الله کے ہاں سے ہے حالانکہ وہ الله کے ہاں سے نہیں ہے اور الله پر جان بوجھ کر جھوٹ بولتے ہیں

And indeed, among them surely (is) a group - they distort their tongues in (reciting) the Book so that you may think it (is) from the Book and not it (is) from the Book. And they say, "It (is) from Allah." But not it (is) from Allah. And they say about Allah the lie while they know.

یعنی تورات کی تلاوت کے طور پر انسانی عبارتوں کو پڑھتا ہے تاکہ لوگوں کو دھوکہ لگ جائے۔

And there is a sect of them twist their tongues with the Book, that you may suppose it part of the Book, yet it is not part of the Book; and they say, 'It is from God,' yet it is not from God, and they speak falsehood against God, and that wittingly.

And lo! there is a party of them who distort the Scripture with their tongues, that ye may think that what they say is from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture. And they say: It is from Allah, when it is not from Allah; and they speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly.
