إِذْ تَبَرَّأَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتُّبِعُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ وَرَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَسْبَابُ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Aye, they would certainly realize if they could see the time when those who were followed shall disown their followers and shall see the punishment, and all their ties shall be cut asunder.

Aye, they would certainly realize if they could see the time [a]when those who were followed shall disown their followers and shall see the punishment, and all their ties shall be cut asunder.[173]

Important Words:

تبرأ (disown) is derived from بری. They say بری من العیب او الدین i.e. he became free from defect or got clear of debt. بارأ شریکهmeans, he became separated from his partner. تبرأ من فلان means, he separated from such a one; he got clear of him; he declared to have no connection with him; he renounced or disowned him (Aqrab).

اسباب (ties) is the plural of سبب which signifies: (1) a tie or a rope; (2) a means which helps a person to reach his destination; (3) a way or a path, leading to something; (4) love or relationship (Aqrab).

Commentary:

This verse vividly describes the scene when those guilty of idolatry will be called to account for their evil beliefs and practices. They will look to their leaders for help and guidance, but the latter will disown them and all ties of love and kinship between them will be cut asunder and all supports and all means of rescue will be lost. The verse is a stern warning to those who blindly follow their leaders and, being misled by them, reject God’s Messengers.

Could they but see [a]when those who were followed shall disown their followers and shall see the punishment and all their ties shall be cut asunder.[191]

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

جب وہ لوگ جن کی پیروی کی گئی ان لوگوں سے بیزاری کا اظہار کریں گے جنہوں نے (اُن کی) پیروی کی اور وہ عذاب کو دیکھیں گے جبکہ اُن سے (نجات کے) سب ذرائع کٹ چکے ہوں گے۔

French

En vérité, ils réaliseraient certainement si seulement ils pouvaient voir l’heure quand ceux qui étaient suivis renieront leurs disciples et verront le châtiment, et que tous les moyens d’échappatoire seront coupés d'eux.

Wenn jene, die führten, sich lossagen von denen, die folgten – und sie werden die Strafe sehen, und alle Mittel werden ihnen zerschnitten sein!

Veramente se ne renderebbero conto, se potessero vedere il tempo in cui coloro che furono seguiti ripudieranno i loro seguaci e vedranno il castigo, e tutti i loro mezzi di fuga saranno spezzati.

En verdad que comprenderían, si pudieran contemplar el momento en que los que eran seguidos repudiarán a sus seguidores y contemplarán el castigo y sus medios de escape quedarán rotos.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اور کاش کہ وہ لوگ اس وقت کو دیکھ لیتے) جب وہ لوگ جن کی فرمانبرداری کی جاتی تھی ان لوگوں سے جو فرمانبردار تھے الگ ہو جائیں گے اور عذاب کو (اپنی آنکھوں سے) دیکھ لیں گے اور ان (کے شرک کی وجہ سے نجات) کے سب ذریعے منقطع ہو جائیں گے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

جب وہ سزا دے گا اس وقت کیفیت یہ ہوگی کہ وہی پیشوا اور رہنما، جن کی دنیا میں پیروی کی گئی تھی، اپنے پیروؤں سے بے تعلقی ظاہر کریں گے، مگر سزا پا کر رہیں گے اور ان کے سارے اسباب و وسائل کا سلسلہ کٹ جائے گا

English - Sahih

[And they should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship],

جب وہ لوگ بیزار ہو جائیں گے جن کی پیروی کی گئی تھی ان لوگوں سے جنہوں نے پیروی کی تھی اور وہ عذاب دیکھ لیں گے اور ان کے تعلقات ٹوٹ جائیں گے
