وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا۟ فَقَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَٰهًا ۖ لَّقَدْ قُلْنَآ إِذًا شَطَطًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And We strengthened their hearts, when they stood up and said, ‘Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never shall we call upon any god beside Him; if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity.

English - Five Volume Translation

Commentary:

Though their people were against them and mercilessly persecuted them, yet they could not be intimidated into giving up their faith. God had strengthened their hearts and had bestowed upon them firmness of faith.

English - Short Commentary Translation

And We strengthened their hearts[1671] when they stood up and said, ‘Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never shall we call upon any god beside Him; for if we did so, we would utter a preposterous thing;

Though their people were against them and mercilessly persecuted them, yet the Dwellers of the Cave could not be intimidated into giving up their religion. God had strengthened their hearts and had bestowed upon them firmness of faith.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور ہم نے ان کے دلوں کو تقویت بخشی جب وہ کھڑے ہوئے۔ پھر انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمارا ربّ تو آسمانوں اور زمین کا ربّ ہے۔ ہم ہرگز اس کے سوا کسی کومعبود نہیں پکاریں گے۔ اگر ایسا ہو تو ہم یقیناً اعتدال سے ہٹی ہوئی بات کہنے والے ہوں گے۔

French

Et Nous avons fortifié leur cœur lorsqu’ils se mirent debout pour dire : « Notre Seigneur est le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre. Jamais n’invoquerons-nous quelque autre dieu en dehors de Lui ; car si nous le faisions, nous prononcerions ainsi une énormité.

Und Wir stärkten ihre Herzen, als sie aufstanden und sprachen: "Unser Herr ist der Herr der Himmel und der Erde. Nie werden wir einen Gott anrufen außer Ihm: sonst würden wir ja eine Ungeheuerlichkeit aussprechen.

当他们起身 (离开自己的家园) 时, 我便坚定了他们的心。于是他们 (互相地) 说: “我们的养主就是那创造天地的养主, 除他以外, 我们绝不祈祷任何其他崇拜的对象; 否则, 我们便说出远离真理的话了;

E rafforzammo i loro cuori, quando si levarono e dissero: «Il nostro Signore è il Signore dei cieli e della terra. Non invocheremo mai altro dio all'infuori di Lui. Se lo facessimo, pronunceremmo invero un'enormità.

Y fortalecimos sus corazones cuando se levantaron y dijeron: “Nuestro Señor es el Señor de los cielos y la tierra. Nunca invocaremos a dios alguno en lugar de Él; si lo hiciéramos, habríamos proferido en verdad una atrocidad”;

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جب وہ (اپنے وطن سے نکلنے کے لئے) اٹھے تو ہم نے ان کے دلوں کو مضبوط کر دیا۔ تب انہوں نے (ایک دوسرے سے) کہا (کہ) ہمارا رب (وہ ہے جو) آسمانوں اور زمین کا (بھی) رب ہے ہم اس کے سوا کسی اور معبود کو ہرگز (کبھی) نہیں پکاریں گے ورنہ ہم ایک حق سے دور بات کہنے والے ہوں گے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

ہم نے ان کے دل اُس وقت مضبوط کر دیے جب وہ اٹھے اور انہوں نے اعلان کر دیا کہ "ہمارا رب تو بس وہی ہے جو آسمانوں اور زمین کا رب ہے ہم اُسے چھوڑ کر کسی دوسرے معبود کو نہ پکاریں گے اگر ہم ایسا کریں تو بالکل بیجا بات کریں گے"

English - Sahih

And We made firm their hearts when they stood up and said, "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then, an excessive transgression.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اورہم نے ان کے دل مضبوط کر دیے جب وہ یہ کہہ کر اٹھ کھڑے ہوئے کہ ہمارا رب آسمانوں اور زمین کا رب ہے ہم اس کے سوا کسی معبود کو ہرگز نہ پکاریں گے ورنہ ہم نے بڑی ہی بیجا بات کہی

And We made firm [on] their hearts when they stood up and said, "Our Lord (is) the Lord (of) the heavens and the earth. Never we will invoke besides Him any god. Certainly, we would have said, then, an enormity.

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

And We strengthened their hearts, when they stood up and said, 'Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and earth; we will not call upon any god, apart from Him, or then we had spoken outrage.

English - Maududi

and strengthened their hearts when they stood up and proclaimed: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We shall call upon no other god beside Him; (for if we did so), we shall be uttering a blasphemy."

And strengthened their hearts when they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We shall invoke no god beside Him, for we shall have uttered a blasphemy then.
