فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

So the evil result of what they did befell them, and that which they used to mock at encompassed them.

So the evil result of what they did befell them, and [a]that which they used to mock at encompassed them.[1836]

Commentary:

The words, So the evil result of what they did befell them, point to the great truth that the punishment of an evil deed is no extraneous thing, but is the natural consequence of the deed itself and is also proportionate to it. The expression, and that which they used to mock at encompassed them, means that disbelievers themselves become the object of the charges of which they accuse the Prophets and their followers.

So the evil consequences of what they did overtook them and [b]that which they used to mock at encompassed them.[1544]

The punishment of an evil deed is not an extraneous thing, but is the natural consequence of the deed itself and is also proportionate to it.

پس انہیں ان کے اعمال کی برائیاں پہنچیں اوراُنہیں اُس نے گھیر لیا جس کے ساتھ وہ تمسخر کیا کرتے تھے۔

پس ان کے عملوں کی سزا نے ان کو آپکڑا اور جس (عذاب کی خبر) پر وہ ہنسی کیا کرتے تھے اس نے انہیں گھیر لیا (اور تباہ کر دیا)

اُن کے کرتوتوں کی خرابیاں آخر اُن کی دامنگیر ہو گئیں اور وہی چیز اُن پر مسلط ہو کر رہی جس کا وہ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے

So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

پھر انہیں ان کے بد اعمال کے نتیجے مل کر رہے اورجس کی وہ ہنسی اڑایا کرتے تھے وہی ان پر نازل ہوا
