7:98

أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتًا وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ

Are the people of these towns, then, secure from the coming of Our punishment upon them by night while they are asleep?

Are the people of these towns, then, secure from [b]the coming of Our punishment upon them by night while they are asleep?[994]

7:5.

Commentary:

In this and the following verse the words اھل القری (people of these towns) refer to the people of the time of the Holy Prophet to whom the Quran now turns as a fitting sequel to the story of bygone peoples who were destroyed by God for rejecting their Prophets. The verse thus purports to warn the people of Mecca and other towns of Arabia that their turn is fast approaching and that the punishment of God may overtake them at any moment of negligence.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تو کیا بستیوں کے رہنے والے اس بات سے امن میں ہیں کہ ہمارا عذاب ان کو رات کے وقت آلے جبکہ وہ سوئے ہوئے ہوں۔

¿Están, pues, las gentes de estas ciudades seguras frente a la llegada de Nuestro castigo sobre ellos por la noche, mientras están dormidos?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

کیا ان شہروں[2] میں رہنے والے (یعنی مکہ اور اس کے اردگرد کے لوگ) اس بات سے امن میں آگئے ہیں کہ ہمارا عذاب ان پر رات کے وقت جب وہ سو رہے ہوں آجائے۔

یعنی شعیبؑ کی بستیوں کا انجام دیکھ کر کیا پھر بھی اہل مکہ نصیحت نہیں حاصل کرتے؟

پھر کیا بستیوں کے لوگ اب اس سے بے خوف ہو گئے ہیں کہ ہماری گرفت کبھی اچانک اُن پر رات کے وقت نہ آ جائے گی جب کہ وہ سوتے پڑے ہوں؟

یعنی شعیبؑ کی بستیوں کا انجام دیکھ کر کیا پھر بھی اہل مکہ نصیحت نہیں حاصل کرتے؟
