وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And those who disbelieve would fain dislodge thee from thy Godgiven station with their angry looks when they hear the Reminder; and they say, ‘He is certainly mad.’

English - Five Volume Translation

And those who disbelieve would fain have dislodged thee from thy God-given station with their angry looks when they heard the Reminder; and they say, ‘He is certainly mad.’[4338]

Commentary:

The verse appears to say to the Holy Prophet that disbelievers cast severe looks at him that might frighten a person of a lesser calibre into giving up his mission, but he has a Divine Message to deliver to the world and so he can hardly be intimidated into yielding to such pressure tactics. They call him a madman. But far from this, his teaching contains the quintessence of wisdom; through it not only his own people—the Arabs—would be lifted from the lowest depths of degradation to the highest summits of greatness and glory, but it would also cleanse other peoples, freeing them from moral blemishes and raising their spiritual stature (v. 52).

English - Short Commentary Translation

And those who disbelieve would fain have dislodged thee from thy God-given station with their angry[3106] looks when they heard the Reminder; and they keep saying, ‘He is, certainly, mad.’

The disbelievers cast severe looks at the Holy Prophet that might frighten a person of lesser calibre into giving up his mission, but the Prophet has a Divine Message to deliver and so he can hardly be intimidated, cajoled or bribed into yielding to such pressure tactics.

یقیناً کفار سے بعید نہیں کہ جب وہ ذکر سنتے ہیں تو وہ تجھے اپنی نظروں (کے قہر) کے ذریعہ گرانے کی کوشش کریں۔ اور وہ کہتے ہیں یہ تو یقیناً ایک دیوانہ ہے۔

French

Et peu s’en faut que ceux qui ne croient pas ne te délogent de ton rang élevé avec leurs regards rageurs, lorsqu’ils entendent réciter le Rappel ; et ils disent : « Assurément, il est fou. »

German

Und jene, die ungläubig sind, möchten dich gerne zu Fall bringen mit ihren (zornigen) Blicken, wenn sie die Ermahnung hören; und sie sagen: "Er ist gewiss verrückt!"

当那些不信的人听到提醒者 («古兰经») 时, 他们以他们 (充满忿怒) 的眼[1470]看你, 几乎要把你 (从安拉赐予你的地位) 逐出, 并继续说: “他确是疯子。”

不信者对穆圣投射的恶狠狠的目光会把不够坚定的人吓得放弃自己的使命, 但是穆圣有真主的启示要传播, 因此他不会被吓倒、受骗或受贿而向这种高压策略让步。

E quelli che non credono sarebbero disposti a rimuoverti dalla posizione che Dio ti ha dato con i loro sguardi irati quando sentono il monito. E dicono: «È certamente pazzo.»

Spanish

Los incrédulos desearían apartartedel nivel que Dios te ha dado con sus miradas coléricas cuando oyen el Recordatorio; y dicen: “Está ciertamente loco”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

کافر لوگ‘ قریب تھا کہ جب انہوں نے قرآن تجھ سے سنا تھا تو اپنی غصہ سے بھری ہوئی آنکھوں سے دیکھ کر تجھے اپنے مقام سے پھسلا دیتے اور وہ کہتے جاتے ہیں کہ یہ شخص تو مجنون ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

جب یہ کافر لوگ کلام نصیحت (قرآن) سنتے ہیں تو تمہیں ایسی نظروں سے دیکھتے ہیں کہ گویا تمہارے قدم اکھاڑ دیں گے، اور کہتے ہیں یہ ضرور دیوانہ ہے

English - Sahih

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."

اور بالکل قریب تھا کہ کافر آپ کو اپنی تیز نگاہوں سے پھسلا دیں جب کہ انہوں نے قرآن سنا اور کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو دیوانہ ہے

The unbelievers wellnigh strike thee down with their glances, when they hear the Reminder, and they say, 'Surely he is a man possessed!'

When the unbelievers hear this Exhortation, they look at you as though they would knock you off your feet with their (hostile) glances. They say: “Surely he is afflicted with madness”;

But the unbelievers would like to stare you out of balance when they hear the warning, and say: "Surely he is possessed;"
