يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ قَوْمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ قَدْ يَئِسُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ كَمَا يَئِسَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْقُبُورِ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

O ye who believe! make not friends of a people with whom Allah is wroth; they have indeed despaired of the Hereafter just as have the disbelievers despaired of those who are in the graves.

English - Five Volume Translation

O ye who believe! take not for friends a people with whom Allah is wroth;[a] they have indeed despaired of the Hereafter just as have the disbelievers despaired of those who are in the graves.[4221]

58:15.

Commentary:

The verse sums up the subject matter of the Surah, viz. that there could be no real union of hearts without community of ideals and principles and that the beliefs and ideas of believers and disbelievers are poles apart from each other. The last sentence of the verse may mean that disbelievers have despaired of the Hereafter i.e. they have absolute no faith in the Hereafter, just as they have no faith that the dead would ever again come to life. The word "they" may also refer to the Jews, since the expression "with whom Allah is wroth," has been used about the Jews in several verses of the Quran.

English - Short Commentary Translation

O ye who believe! take not for friends a people with whom [a]Allah is wroth; they have, indeed, despaired of the Hereafter[3033] just as have the disbelievers despaired of those who are in the graves.

58:15.

The words, they (disbelievers) have indeed despaired of the Hereafter,mean that they have no faith in the Hereafter, just as they have no faith that dead will ever come to life. The word "they" may particularly apply to the Jews, since the expression, with whom Allah is wroth, has been used about the Jews in several verses of the Qur’an.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو! ایسی قوم کو دوست نہ بناؤ جن پر اللہ غضبناک ہوا۔ وہ آخرت سے مایوس ہوچکے ہیں جیسے کفار اصحابِ قبور سے مایوس ہوچکے ہیں۔

Ô vous qui croyez ! ne vous liez pas d’amitié avec un peuple contre qui Allāh est courroucé ; ils ont en effet désespéré de l’au-delà, comme les mécréants ont désespéré de ceux qui sont dans les tombes.

German

O die ihr glaubt, schließt nicht Freundschaft mit einem Volke, dem Allah zürnt; denn sie sind völlig am Jenseits verzweifelt, gerade so, wie die Ungläubigen an denen verzweifelt sind, die in den Gräbern sind.

信仰的人啊! 不要结交[a]安拉所恼怒的人; 他们对后世绝望, 正如不信者对坟墓中的人绝望一样。

58:15.

Italian

O voi che credete! Non prendete come amici uomini con cui Allah è irato. Essi, invero, disperano dell'Aldilà, così come i miscredenti disperano della risurrezione/i> di quelli che sono nelle tombe.

Spanish

¡Oh vosotros, los creyentes! no hagáis amistad con un pueblo con el que Al-lah está encolerizado; en verdad han desesperado del Más Allá al igual que los incrédulos desesperaron de quienes están en las tumbas.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اے مومنو! کسی ایسی قوم سے دوستی نہ کرو‘ جس پر خدا ناراض[3] ہے۔ وہ لوگ اخروی زندگی سے ایسے مایوس ہو گئے ہیں جس طرح کافر قبروں میں پڑے ہوئے لوگوں سے مایوس ہو گئے ہیں۔

مراد یہ ہے کہ جن لوگوں پر خداتعالیٰ ناراض نہیں ہوتا وہ اپنی دشمنی میں حد سے نہیں بڑھتے۔ لیکن جن پر خداتعالیٰ ناراض ہوتا ہے وہ اپنی دشمنی میں حد سے بڑھ جاتے ہیں اور اس وجہ سے ان سے تعلق رکھنا ناجائز ہو جاتا ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو، اُن لوگوں کو دوست نہ بناؤ جن پر اللہ نے غضب فرمایا ہے، جو آخرت سے اسی طرح مایوس ہیں جس طرح قبروں میں پڑے ہوئے کافر مایوس ہیں

English - Sahih

O you who have believed, do not make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry. They have despaired of [reward in] the Hereafter just as the disbelievers have despaired of [meeting] the inhabitants of the graves.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اے ایمان والو اس قوم سے دوستی نہ کرو جن پر الله کا غضب ہوا وہ تو آخرت سے ایسے نا امید ہو گئے کہ جیسے کافر اہلِ قبور سے نا امید ہو گئے

O you who believe! (Do) not make allies (of) a people, (The) wrath (of) Allah (is) upon them. Indeed, they despair of the Hereafter as despair the disbelievers of (the) companions (of) the graves.
