۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَالِقُ ٱلْحَبِّ وَٱلنَّوَىٰ ۖ يُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَمُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتِ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Verily, it is Allah Who causes the grain and the date-stones to sprout. He brings forth the living from the dead, and He is the Bringer forth of the dead from the living. That is Allah; wherefore, then, are you turned back?

English - Five Volume Translation

Verily, it is Allah Who causes the grain and the date-stones to sprout. [a]He brings forth the living from the dead, and He is the bringer forth of the dead from the living. That is Allah; wherefore, then, are you turned back?[838]

3:28; 10:32; 30:20.

Commentary:

The Quran now proceeds to give arguments from nature to prove the need of revelation and Divine guidance. Firstly, the attention of man is drawn to the seeds and stones from which trees sprout. How insignificant is the seed, but how it grows and develops into a big tree. Similarly, you look upon man as a contemptible thing and say, Allah has not revealed anything to any man (6:92). But man also, whom you imagine to be so despicable, is like a seed and is capable of growing into something great.

The words, He brings forth the living from the dead, signify that not unoften noble and great men are born of low and ill-bred parents. Why then do you wonder and think it impossible that a righteous man should rise spiritually and become recipient of divine favours? Your God has made man after the manner of a seed. He has endowed him with many faculties and has made him capable of great progress. Why do you not then understand and see the truth?

English - Short Commentary Translation

Verily, it is Allah Who causes the grain and the date-stones to sprout.[879] [a]He brings forth the living from the dead, and He is the Bringer forth of the dead from the living. That is Allah; wherefore, then, are you turned back?

3:28; 10:32; 30:20.

Attention is drawn to the seed from which a plant sprouts. How insignificant it is but how it grows and develops into a big tree. Similarly, like a seed, man is capable of growing into the recipient of Divine revelation and of being the reflector of God’s great attributes.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

یقیناً اللہ بیجوں اور گٹھلیوں کا پھاڑنے والا ہے۔ وہ زندہ کو مُردہ سے نکالتا ہے اور مُردے کو زندہ سے نکالنے والا ہے۔ یہ ہے تمہارا اللہ پس تم کہاں بہکائے جا رہے ہو۔

French

En vérité, c’est Allāh Qui fait fendre les graines et les noyaux de dattes. Il fait sortir le vivant du mort et Il est Celui Qui fait sortir le mort du vivant. Voilà votre Allāh ; comment donc vous vous laissez détourner de la vérité ?

German

Wahrlich, Allah ist es, Der das Korn und den Dattelkern keimen lässt. Er bringt das Lebendige hervor aus dem Toten, und Er ist der Hervorbringer des Toten aus dem Lebendigen. Das ist Allah; warum dann lasst ihr euch abwendig machen?

Chinese

安拉使谷粒、果核生长,[439] [d]赐死者生命, 使有生命者死亡。这就是你们的安拉。因此, (你们告诉我:) 你们会迷误到哪里去?

注意的是生长植物出来的种籽。它是多么微不足道, 可是它能生长成一颗大树。相同地, 人类是能够成长为接受安拉启示并且反映安拉伟大常德的人。

Italian

In verità, è Allah che fa germogliare il grano e il nocciolo di dattero. Egli è Colui che fa uscire il vivo dal morto e il morto dal vivo. Questi è Allah. Perché dunque vi allontanate da Lui?

En verdad, es Al-lah quien hace que germinen el grano y el hueso de dátil. Él hace surgir a lo vivo de lo muerto y es quien extrae lo muerto de lo vivo. Así es Al-lah; ¿cómo os alejáis, pues?

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اللہ یقیناً دانے اور گٹھلیوں کو پھاڑنے والا ہے‘ وہ زندہ کو مردہ سے نکالتا ہے اور مردہ کو زندہ سے نکالنے والا ہے۔ تمہارا اللہ یہ ہے سو بتاؤ تم کہاں سے واپس لوٹائے جاتے ہو۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

دانے اور گٹھلی کو پھاڑنے والا اللہ ہے وہی زندہ کو مُردہ سے نکالتا ہے اور وہی مُردہ کو زندہ سے خارج کرتا ہے یہ سارے کام کرنے والا اللہ ہے، پھر تم کدھر بہکے چلے جا رہے ہو؟

English - Sahih

Indeed, Allah is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living. That is Allah; so how are you deluded?

بے شک الله دانے اور گٹھلی کا پھاڑنے والا ہے مردہ سے زندہ کو نکالتا ہے اور زندہ سے مردہ نکالنے والا ہے الله یہی ہے پھر کدھر الٹے پھرے جا رہے ہو

Indeed, Allah (is the) Cleaver (of) the grain and the date-seed. He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living. That (is) Allah, so how are you deluded?
