قُل لَّوْ أَنَّ عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦ لَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Say: ‘If that which you desire to be hastened were in my power, surely the matter would be decided between me and you. And Allah knows best the unjust.’

Say: [c]‘If that which you desire to be hastened were in my power, surely the matter would be decided between me and you. And Allah knows best the unjust.’[804]

6:9; 10:12.

Commentary:

This verse gives one of the reasons why it has not been placed in the power of Prophets to bring down punishment. The reason lies in the fact that God alone knows who are just and who are unjust. Therefore, if the work of punishment be entrusted to human beings, who do not know the inner secrets of the heart, they may punish many who are not really unjust. ‘Umar, for instance, was in the beginning bitterly opposed to the Holy Prophet. But God knew that he would one day become a zealous champion of Islam, so much so that he would finally become the Second Successor of the Holy Prophet. Now, if the work of punishment had been entrusted to the Holy Prophet, he might have selected ‘Umar for punishment during the period of his bitter opposition to the new Faith, to the great loss to Islam. So only a Being Who knows the hidden secrets of man’s heart can award punishment, for He alone knows who is really deserving of punishment and who not. There are many men who are outwardly very meek, but in their hearts they are not better than ravenous wolves. Similarly, there are many who are outwardly very harsh and stubborn, but they are good at heart. If it had been left to the Prophets to punish their enemies, they might have punished them much sooner than God punishes them.

Say, [c]‘If that which you desire to be hastened were in my power, surely the matter would have been decided between me and you. And Allah knows best the unjust.’

6:9; 10:12.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تو کہہ دے کہ اگر وہ بات جس کی تم جلدی کرتے ہو میرے ہاتھ میں ہوتی تو (اب تک) ضرور میرے اور تمہارے درمیان فیصلہ ہو چکا ہوتا اور اللہ ظالموں کو سب سے زیادہ جاننے والا ہے۔

French

Dis : « Si ce que vous voulez hâter était en mon pouvoir, alors certainement l’affaire serait décidée entre moi et vous. Et Allāh connaît mieux que quiconque les injustes. »

German

Sprich: "Hätte ich bei mir, was ihr beschleunigt zu sehen wünschet, wahrlich, entschieden wäre die Sache zwischen mir und euch. Und Allah kennt die Frevler recht wohl."

你 (向他们) 说: [d]“如果我有你们所要急於到来的 (惩罚), (那么), 我与你们之间 (所分歧) 的事情, 早有了决定。安拉最知道不义的人, (当他愿意时, 他将做个决定。)”

Di': «Se quello che desiderate affrettare fosse in mio potere, certamente la cosa potrebbe decidersi fra me e voi. E Allah conosce meglio di tutti, coloro che sono i prevaricatori.»

Spanish

Diles: “Si estuviera en mi poder lo que deseáis que se apresure, en verdad la cuestión se decidiría entre vosotros y yo. Pero Al-lah conoce mejor a los injustos”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

تو (ان سے) کہدے کہ جس چیز کے متعلق تم جلدی کے خواہاں ہو اگر وہ میرے پاس ہوتی تو میرے اور تمہارے درمیان (اختلافی) امر کا فیصلہ (کبھی کا) ہو جاتا۔ اور اللہ ظالموں کو سب سے زیادہ جانتا ہے (جب چاہے گا فیصلہ کر دے گا)

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

کہو، اگر کہیں وہ چیز میرے اختیار میں ہوتی جس کی تم جلدی مچا رہے ہو تو میرے اور تمہارے درمیان کبھی کا فیصلہ ہو چکا ہوتا مگر اللہ زیادہ بہتر جانتا ہے کہ ظالموں کے ساتھ کیا معاملہ کیا جانا چاہیے

English - Sahih

Say, "If I had that for which you are impatient, the matter would have been decided between me and you, but Allah is most knowing of the wrongdoers."

کہہ دو اگر میرے پاس وہ چیز ہوتی جس کی تم جلدی کر رہے ہو تو اس معاملہ میں فیصلہ ہوگیا ہو تا جو میرے اور تمہارے درمیان ہے اور الله ظالموں کو خوب جانتا ہے

English - Talal Itani

Say, "If that (were) with me what you seek to hasten of it, surely would have been decided the matter between me and between you. And Allah (is) most knowing of the wrongdoers.
