سَيَقُولُ لَكَ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ شَغَلَتْنَآ أَمْوَٰلُنَا وَأَهْلُونَا فَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَلْسِنَتِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ ضَرًّا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ نَفْعًۢا ۚ بَلْ كَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًۢا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Those of the desert Arabs, who were left behind, will say to thee, ‘Our possessions and our families kept us occupied, so ask forgiveness for us.’ They say with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say, ‘Who can avail you aught against Allah, if He intends you some harm, or if He intends you some benefit? Nay, Allah is Well-Aware of what you do.

Those of the desert Arabs, who contrived to be left behind, will say to thee, [a]‘Our possessions and our families kept us occupied, so ask forgiveness for us.’ [b]They say with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say, ‘[c]Who can avail you aught against Allah, if He intends you some harm, or if He intends you some benefit? Nay, Allah is Well-Aware of what you do.[3824]

Commentary:

Reference in this verse is to those Bedouin tribes around Medina who apparently had friendly relations with the Muslims. These tribes were also invited to join the party of 1500 Muslims who were going to Mecca to perform the Lesser Pilgrimage (عمرة). Though the Prophet was going on a mission of peace, these desert tribes thought that the Quraish would not allow his entry into Mecca and that in all likelihood there would be a clash of arms and Muslims not being properly armed would be defeated, and therefore going with the Holy Prophet was tantamount to marching into the jaws of death (Muir, Hisham & Kathir). The verse may equally apply to those tribes who had remained behind in the expedition to Tabuk because analogous words have been used in Surah At-Taubah about them.

Those of the desert Arabs, who contrived to be left behind,[2770] will say to thee, ‘Our possessions and our families kept us occupied so ask forgiveness for us.’ [a]They say with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say, ‘Who can avail you aught against Allah, if He should intend you some harm, or if He should intend you some benefit? Nay, Allah is Well-Aware of what you do.’

ضرور بادیہ نشینوں میں سے پیچھے چھوڑ دیئے جانے والے تجھ سے کہیں گے کہ ہمیں ہمارے اموال اور ہمارے گھر والوں نے مشغول رکھا۔ پس ہمارے لئے بخشش طلب کر۔ وہ اپنی زبانوں سے وہ کہتے ہیں جو اُن کے دلوں میں نہیں۔ تُو کہہ دے کہ کون ہے جو اللہ کے مقابل پر کچھ بھی تمہارے حق میں اختیار رکھتا ہو، اگر وہ تمہیں تکلیف پہنچانے کا ارادہ یا فائدہ پہنچانے کا ارادہ کرے۔ حق یہ ہے کہ جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو اللہ اس سے خوب باخبر رہتا ہے۔

French

Ceux d’entre les Arabes du désert qui s’arrangèrent pour être laissés en arrière, te diront : « Nos biens et nos familles nous ont retenus ; demande donc pardon pour nous. » lls disent avec leur langue ce qui n’est pas dans leur cœur. Dis : « Qui donc peut quelque chose pour vous protéger contre lavolonté Allāh, s’Il vous veut du mal, ou s’Il vous veut du bien ? Non, mais Allāh est Très-Conscient de ce que vous faites.

German

Diejenigen unter den Wüstenarabern, die zurückblieben*, werden zu dir sprechen: "Unsere Besitztümer und unsere Familien hielten uns beschäftigt, drum bitte um Verzeihung für uns." Sie sprechen mit ihren Zungen, was nicht in ihren Herzen ist. Sprich: "Wer vermag etwas für euch bei Allah, wenn Er euch Schaden oder Nutzen zudenkt? Nein, Allah ist wohl kundig dessen, was ihr tut.

那些留在后方的沙漠地区的阿拉伯人, 将对你说: “我们要照顾我们的财产和家眷, (所以我们没有旅行。) 求你为我们祈求宽恕吧!” [c]他们用自己的口所说的并不是自己内心里的话。你说: “假如安拉要降祸给你们, 或要降福给你们, 谁能违反安拉的意旨为你们做一点? 不, 安拉是洞悉你们的作为的。

Quegli Arabi del deserto che furono lasciati indietro, ti diranno: «I nostri beni e le nostre famiglie ci hanno tenuto occupati; chiedi dunque perdono per noi.» Dicono con la lingua quello che non c'è nei loro cuori. Dì: «Chi può servirvi a qualcosa contro Allah, se Lui intende farvi del male, o se Lui intende farvi del bene? No, Allah sa benissimo quello che fate.

Los moradores del desierto, que quedaron atrás te dirán: “Nuestros bienes y nuestras familias nos mantuvieron ocupados; pide, pues, perdón por nosotros”. Dicen con sus lenguas lo que no está en sus corazones. Diles: “¿Quién puede serviros de algo contra Al-lah si piensa perjudicaros de algún modo o piensa beneficiaros? No, Al-lah es Perfectamente Consciente de lo que hacéis.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اعراب[1] میں سے جو پیچھے چھوڑ دئیے گئے تھے ضرور کہیں گے کہ ہمارے مال اور ہمارے اہل و عیال نے ہم کو مشغول رکھا (اس لئے ہم اس سفر [2]پر نہیں گئے) پس تو ہمارے لئے استغفار کر۔ وہ اپنی زبانوں سے وہ بات کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دلوں میں نہیں۔ تو کہہ دے اگر اللہ تم کو کوئی نقصان پہنچانا چاہے یا تم کوکوئی نفع دینا چاہے تو کون وجود ہے جو اس کے خلاف تمہارے لئے کچھ بھی کر سکتا ہے؟ ایسا ہرگز نہیں بلکہ اللہ تمہارے اعمال سے خبردار ہے۔

اعراب سے مراد وہ عرب ہیں جو جنگل میں رہتے تھے۔ ان آیات میں ان لوگوں میں سے جومنافق تھے‘ یعنی عامر‘ اسد اور غطفان کے قبائل میں سے‘ ان کا ذکر ہے۔

یعنی جنگِ تبوک میں۔ مفسرین اسے فتح مکہ پر لگاتے ہیں۔ ہم نے تبوک پر لگایا ہے جو بعد میں ہوئی ہے۔ چونکہ اس سورۃ میں سَیَقُوْلُ لَکَ الْمُخَلَّفُوْنَ کے الفاظ ہیں جو آئندہ پر دلالت کرتے ہیں اس لئے ہمارا استدلال زیادہ صحیح ہے۔ کیونکہ سورۃ توبہ سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ پیچھے رہنے والے لوگ تبوک کے واقعہ سے تعلق رکھتے تھے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اے نبیؐ، بدوی عربوں میں سے جو لوگ پیچھے چھوڑ دیے گئے تھے اب وہ آ کر ضرور تم سے کہیں گے کہ "ہمیں اپنے اموال اور بال بچوں کی فکر نے مشغول کر رکھا تھا، آپ ہمارے لیے مغفرت کی دعا فرمائیں" یہ لوگ اپنی زبانوں سے وہ باتیں کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دلوں میں نہیں ہوتیں ان سے کہنا "اچھا، یہی بات ہے تو کون تمہارے معاملہ میں اللہ کے فیصلے کو روک دینے کا کچھ بھی اختیار رکھتا ہے اگر وہ تمہیں کوئی نقصان پہنچانا چاہے یا نفع بخشنا چاہے؟ تمہارے اعمال سے تو اللہ ہی باخبر ہے

English - Sahih

Those who remained behind of the bedouins will say to you, "Our properties and our families occupied us, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not within their hearts. Say, "Then who could prevent Allah at all if He intended for you harm or intended for you benefit? Rather, ever is Allah, with what you do, Acquainted.

عنقریب آ پ سے وہ لوگ کہیں گے جو بدویوں میں سے پیچھے رہ گئے تھے کہ ہمیں ہمارے اور اہل و عیال نے مشغول رکھا ہے آپ ہمارے لیے مغفرت مانگیئے وہ اپنی زبانوں سے وہ بات کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دلوں میں نہیں ہے کہدو وہ کون ہے جو الله کے سامنے تمہارے لیے کسی چیز کا (کچھ بھی) اختیار رکھتا ہوگا اگر الله تمہیں کوئی نقصان یا کوئی نفع پہنچانا چاہے بلکہ الله تمہارے سب اعمال پر خبردار ہے

English - Talal Itani

Will say to you those who remained behind of the Bedouins, "Kept us busy our properties and our families, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, "Then who has power for you against Allah (in) anything, if He intends for you harm or He intends for you a benefit? Nay, is Allah of what you do All-Aware.
