وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنَ ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And they say, ‘Why has not this Qur’an been sent to some great man of the two towns?’

And they say, ‘Why has not this Quran been sent to some great man of the two towns?’[3662]

Commentary:

The verse means to say that the possession of wealth and material means have made disbelievers so conceited and oblivious of spiritual values that they have the audacity to say, "Why could not God find a better and more influential and high-placed man in society and entrust him with the great task of preaching His Message than this man (the Holy Prophet)."

The word "two towns" are generally understood to mean Mecca and Ta’if. They were two important centres of Arab social and political life in the Holy Prophet’s time.

اور انہوں نے کہا کیوں نہ یہ قرآن دو معروف بستیوں کے کسی بڑے شخص پر اتارا گیا؟

Et ils disent : « Pourquoi ce Coran n’a-t-il pas été révélé à un grand homme des deux villes ? »

Und sie sprechen: "Warum ist dieser Qur-ân nicht einem angesehenen Mann aus den beiden Städten* herabgesandt worden?"

他们说: “为什么不让这 «古兰经» 降给这两个城市中任何一位大人物?”

E dicono: «Perché questo Corano non è stato mandato a qualche grande uomo delle due città?»

Dicen: “¿Por qué este Corán no ha sido enviado a algún hombre grande de las dos ciudades?”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور یہ بھی اعتراض کیا کہ یہ قرآن دونوں[1] بڑے بڑے شہروں میں سے کسی بڑے آدمی پر کیوں نازل نہیں ہوا؟

یعنی محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک یتیم پر کیوں نازل ہوا۔ ہم سردارانِ قوم کو منوانا تھا تو طائف اور مکہ کے کسی بڑے رئیس پر یہ کلام نازل ہوتا یہ پرانا اعتراض ہے اور اب تک کیا جاتا ہے اس زمانہ کے لوگ بھی مصلحین پر یہی اعتراض کرتے ہیں۔

کہتے ہیں، یہ قرآن دونوں شہروں کے بڑے آدمیوں میں سے کسی پر کیوں نہ نازل کیا گیا؟

And they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"

اور کہا کیوں یہ قرآن ان دو بستیوں کےکسی سردار پر نازل نہیں کیا گیا
