ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ ۗ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ ۗ وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسْنًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

This it is whereof Allah gives the glad tidings to His servants who believe and do good works. Say: ‘I ask of you no reward for it, except that I am inviting you to God because of love of kinship.’ And whoso earns a good deed, We give him increase of good therein. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciating.

This it is whereof Allah gives the glad tidings to His servants who believe and do good works. [b]Say: ‘I ask of you no reward for it, except such love as subsists between kindred.’ And whoso earns a good deed, We give him increase of good therein. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciating.[3619]

25:58; 38:87.

Commentary:

The expression لا أسئلکم علیه أجرا إلا الـمودة فی القربی is supposed to bear several interpretations. Some of these are as follows: (1) I ask of you no reward for calling you to the way of God except that, being related to you by ties of kinship, my solicitude for your spiritual well-being impels me to invite you to accept the message of truth. In this case إلا is إستثناء منقطع; (2) I ask of you no reward for the great work I am doing for your spiritual benefit except that you should learn to live and behave like blood relations; (3) I ask no reward or return for my solicitude and love for you except that in offering opposition to me you should at least have some regard for the ties of relationship that I have with you; and (4) I want no reward from you except that you should learn to develop a liking for attaining nearness to God (the word قربی meaning قربة i.e. nearness). This last meaning agrees with 25:58 where the Holy Prophet is stated as saying to his people: "I ask of you naught in return for it except that he who will, may take a way to his Lord."

English - Short Commentary Translation

This it is whereof Allah gives the glad tidings to His servants who believe and do good works. [b]Say, ‘I ask of you no reward for my service to you, except such love as subsists between kindred.’[2654] And whoso earns a good deed, We give him increase of good therein. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciating.

25:58; 38:87.

The words may also mean: (1) I ask of you no reward for calling you to the way of God except that, being related to you by ties of kinship, my solicitude for your spiritual well-being impels me to do so. (2) I ask of you no reward for the great work I am doing for your spiritual benefit except that you should learn to live and behave like blood relations. (3) I ask no reward or return for my solicitude and love for you except that in offering opposition to me you should at least have some regard for the ties of relationship that I have with you. (4) I want no reward from you except that you should learn to develop a liking for attaining nearness to God (the word, Qurba meaning Qurbah, nearness). This last meaning agrees with 25:58 where the Holy Prophet is depicted as saying: I ask of you naught in return for it except that he, who will, may take a way to his Lord.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

یہ وہی ہے جس کی اللہ اپنے اُن بندوں کو خوشخبری دیتا رہا ہے جو ایمان لائے اور نیک اعمال بجا لائے۔ تُو کہہ دے مَیں اس پر تم سے کوئی اجر نہیں مانگتا، ہاں تم آپس میں اقرباءکی سی محبت پیدا کرو۔ اور جو کسی (معدوم) نیکی کو اُجاگر کرتا ہے ہم اس میں اسکے لئے مزید حُسن پیدا کر دیں گے۔ یقیناً اللہ بہت بخشنے والا (اور) بہت ہی شکر قبول کرنے والا ہے۔

French

Telle est la bonne nouvelle qu’Allāh annonce à Ses serviteurs, qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres. Dis : « Je ne vous en demande aucune récompense, excepté l’affection qui doit exister entre parents ». Et quiconque réalise un acte de bonté, Nous lui embellissons davantage sa bonté. Assurément, Allāh est Très-Pardonnant, Très-Appréciateur.

German

Dies ist es, wovon Allah die frohe Botschaft gibt Seinen Dienern, die glauben und gute Werke tun. Sprich: "Ich verlange von euch keinen Lohn dafür, es sei denn die Liebe wie zu den Verwandten." Und wer eine gute Tat begeht, dem machen Wir sie noch schöner. Wahrlich, Allah ist allverzeihend, voll der Erkenntlichkeit.

Chinese

这就是安拉用以向信仰而行善的仆人报喜讯的。[b]你说: “除去像亲戚中间互相亲爱之外, 我不为这 (传达使命) 向你们要任何报酬。” 凡赚得善行的人, 我增加他善行的优美。的确安拉是最宽恕的, 最赏识的。

Italian

Questa è la buona notizia che Allah dà ai Suoi servi, che credono e fanno opere buone. Di': «Io non vi chiedo alcuna ricompensa per questo, eccetto quell'amore che si dimostra tra parenti.» E a chiunque compia una buona azione, Noi aumenteremo per lui la bellezza della sua bontà. Per certo, Allah è Colui che sommamente perdona, Colui che sommamente apprezza.

Spanish

Ésta es la buena nueva que Al-lah da a Sus siervos que creen y hacen buenas obras. Diles: “No os pido recompensa alguna por ello, sólo el afecto mostrado entre parientes y amigos. Y a quien haga un acto de bondad, le realzaremos más aún el atractivo de su bondad. En verdad Al-lah es el Sumo Indulgente, Sumo Reconocedor.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یہی وہ چیز ہے جس کی اللہ اپنے مومن بندوں کو بشارت دیتا ہے‘ ایسے مومن بندوں کو جو ایمان کے مطابق عمل بھی کرتے ہیں۔ تو کہہ دے میں اپنی خدمت کے بدلہ میں تم سے کوئی اجر نہیں مانگتا‘ سوائے اس محبت کے جو اپنے قریب ترین رشتہ داروں سے کی جاتی ہے[1] اور جو شخص کوئی نیکی کا کام کرتا ہے ہم اس کی نیکی کو اس کے لئے اور زیادہ حسین[2] بنا دیتے ہیں اللہ بہت بخشنے والا (اور) قدر دان ہے۔

شیعہ لوگ اس کے معنے یہ کرتے ہیں کہ میں اور کوئی اجر نہیں مانگتا صرف میرے رشتہ داروں سے محبت کرو۔ حالانکہ یہ بھی تو اجر ہے۔ اس آیت کے اصل معنے وہی ہیں‘ جو ہم نے کیے ہیں۔ اَلْمَوَدَّۃُ فِی الْقُرْبٰیٰ‘ چاہتا ہوں۔ یعنی بحیثیتِ رسول اس کا مطالبہ کرتا ہوں‘ کہ جو قریب ترین رشتہ دار سے محبت کی جاتی ہے وہ مجھ سے کرو۔ چنانچہ ایک دوسری جگہ اس مضمون کو واضح کیا گیا ہے اور بتایا گیا ہے کہ خدا اور رسول سے رشتہ داروں سے بھی زیادہ محبت ہونی چاہیے چنانچہ فرمایاقُلۡ اِنۡ کَانَ اٰبَآؤُکُمۡ وَ اَبۡنَآؤُکُمۡ وَ اِخۡوَانُکُمۡ وَ اَزۡوَاجُکُمۡ وَ عَشِیۡرَتُکُمۡ وَ اَمۡوَا

یعنی وہ نیکیوں پر اس طرح ٹوٹ ٹوٹ کر پڑتا ہے جیسے کسی حسین چیز پر عاشق گرتا ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

یہ ہے وہ چیز جس کی خوش خبری اللہ اپنے اُن بندوں کو دیتا ہے جنہوں نے مان لیا اور نیک عمل کیے اے نبیؐ، اِن لوگوں سے کہہ دو کہ میں اِس کام پر تم سے کسی اجر کا طالب نہیں ہوں، البتہ قرابت کی محبت ضرور چاہتا ہوں جو کوئی بھلائی کمائے گا ہم اس کے لیے اس بھلائی میں خوبی کا اضافہ کر دیں گے بے شک اللہ بڑا در گزر کرنے والا اور قدر دان ہے

English - Sahih

It is that of which Allah gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only good will through kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

یہی وہ (فضل) جس کی الله اپنے بندوں کو خوشخبری دے دیتا ہے جو ایمان لائے اور نیک کام کیے کہہ دو میں تم سے اس پر کوئی اجرات نہیں مانگتا بجز رشتہ داری کی محبت کے اور جو نیکی کمائے گا تو ہم اس میں اس کے لیے بھلائی زیادہ کردیں گے بے شک الله بخشنے والا قدردان ہے

English - Talal Itani

That (is of) which Allah gives glad tidings (to) His slaves - those who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, "Not I ask you for it any payment except the love among the relatives." And whoever earns any good, We increase for him therein good. Indeed, Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, All-Appreciative.

یعنی وہ نیکیوں پر اس طرح ٹوٹ ٹوٹ کر پڑتا ہے جیسے کسی حسین چیز پر عاشق گرتا ہے۔

English - Arberry

That is the good tidings God gives to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: 'I do not ask of you a wage for this, except love for the kinsfolk; and whosoever gains a good deed, We shall give him increase of good in respect of it. Surely God is All-forgiving, All-thankful.

English - Maududi

That is the Bounty of which Allah gives tidings to His servants who have faith and do good deeds. Tell them, (O Prophet): “I do not ask you for any recompense for my work except love towards kinsfolk.” Whoever does a good deed, We shall increase its merit for him. Surely Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciative.

English - Ahmed Ali

This is the good news that God gives to His creatures who believe and do good. Say: "I ask no recompense of you for it other than obligations of relationship." We shall give more excellence to him who acquires excellence. Surely God forgives and accepts (gratitude).

English - Yusuf Ali

That is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." And if any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service).

This it is which Allah announceth unto His bondmen who believe and do good works. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee therefor, save lovingkindness among kinsfolk. And whoso scoreth a good deed We add unto its good for him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Responsive.
