ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَهِىَ دُخَانٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ ٱئْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا قَالَتَآ أَتَيْنَا طَآئِعِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Then He turned to the heaven while it was something like smoke, and said to it and to the earth: ‘Come ye both of you, willingly or unwillingly.’ They said, ‘We come willingly.’

English - Five Volume Translation

Then He turned to the heaven while it was like smoke, and said to it and to the earth: ‘Come ye both of you in obedience, willingly or unwillingly.’ They said, ‘We come willingly in obedience.’[3564]

Important Words:

دخان (smoke) is infinitive-noun from دخن. They say دخنت النار i.e. the fire sent up smoke. دخان means, smoke or gaseous matter; evil or mischief, dearth, drought, sterility; hunger (Lane & Aqrab).

کرھا (unwillingly) is derived from کرہ. They say کرہ الشیء (kariha) i.e. he did not desire, disapproved, disliked, hated or loathed the thing. أکرھه علی الامر means, he compelled him to do the thing against his will. کرھا (kurhan and karhan) in both forms is infinitive-noun from کرہ, the former کرھا i.e. (kurhan) meaning, what you yourself do not like and the latter (karhan) meaning, what you are compelled to do against your will by someone else. فعله کرھا (karhan) means, he did it unwillingly (Lane & Aqrab). Commentary:

The verse signifies that everything in the universe is subject to certain laws which it obeys and according to which it works. It has no discretion. It is man alone who has been endowed with volition or discretion to obey or defy the Divine laws and it is not unoften that he uses his discretion to his detriment. This is also the meaning and significance of 33:73.

English - Short Commentary Translation

Then He turned to the heaven, while it was something like smoke, and said to it and to the earth; ‘Come ye both of you in obedience, willingly or unwillingly.’[2625] They said, ‘We come willingly.[2626]

Kurhan or Karhan in both forms is infinitive-noun from Kariha (he disliked), the former (Kurhan) meaning, what you yourself do not like and the latter (Karhan) meaning, what you are compelled to do against your will by someone else. Fa‘ala-hu Karhan means, he did it unwillingly (Lane).

پھر وہ آسمان کی طرف متوجہ ہوا اور وہ دھواں دھواں تھا اور اُس نے اس سے اور زمین سے کہا کہ تم دونوں خوشی سے یا مجبوراً چلے آؤ۔ اُن دونوں نے کہا ہم خوشی سے حاضر ہیں۔

Ensuite Il Se tourna vers le ciel alors qu’il était une sorte de fumée, et Il lui dit ainsi qu’à la terre : « Venez tous les deux, bon gré mal gré. » Tous deux dirent : « Nous venons de bon gré. »

Dann wandte Er Sich zum Himmel, welcher noch Nebel war, und sprach zu ihm und zu der Erde: "Kommt ihr beide, willig oder widerwillig." Sie sprachen: "Wir kommen willig."

然后他转向了天空, 那时它(好象) 烟雾。他对它和大地说: “你俩自愿地或勉强地来 (顺从我) 吧!” 它俩说: “我俩顺从地来了。”[1180]

这节经文表示, 宇宙万物都服从某些规律, 并遵循、依照这些规律活动。宇宙万物没有斟酌决定的自由, 只有人类赋有这种自由或意志, 以服从或反抗真主的指令, 但人类常利用了这种自由而遭殃。这也是经文33:73中的含意。

Quindi si dedicò al cielo, che era ancora qualcosa di simile a fumo, e disse ad esso e alla terra: «Venite a me, tutti e due, volenti o nolenti.» Essi replicarono: «Veniamo volentieri.»

Spanish

Luego se dirigió al Cielo mientras era algo similar al humo, y dijo a él y a la tierra: “Venid vosotros dos, voluntaria o involuntariamente”. Dijeron: “Vamos voluntariamente”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پھر آسمان کی طرف متوجہ ہوا۔ اور وہ محض ایک کہر کی طرح تھا۔ اور اس نے اس سے اور زمین سے کہا دونوں اپنی مرضی سے یا مجبور ہو کر میری فرمانبرداری کے لئے آجاؤ۔ ان دونوں نے کہا ہم فرمانبردار ہو کر آگئے ہیں۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

پھر وہ آسمان کی طرف متوجہ ہوا جو اُس وقت محض دھواں تھا اُس نے آسمان اور زمین سے کہا "وجود میں آ جاؤ، خواہ تم چاہو یا نہ چاہو" دونوں نے کہا "ہم آ گئے فرمانبرداروں کی طرح"

English - Sahih

Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly."

پھر وہ آسمان کی طرف متوجہ ہوا اور وہ دھؤاں تھا پس اس کو اور زمین کو فرمایا کہ خوشی سے آؤ یا جبر سے دونوں نے کہا ہم خوشی سے آئے ہیں
