وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ يُقْسِمُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ مَا لَبِثُوا۟ غَيْرَ سَاعَةٍ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَانُوا۟ يُؤْفَكُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And on the day when the Hour shall arrive the guilty will swear that they tarried not save an hour — thus were they turned away from the right path.

And on the day when the Hour shall arrive the guilty will swear that [a]they tarried not save an hour—thus were they turned away from the right path.[3029]

10:46; 46:36.

Commentary:

The verse means to say that when the hour of the triumph of Islam arrives and disbelief suffers defeat, the disbelievers will realize to their mortification and sorrow that the time of their prosperity and glory was indeed very short. It was but an hour!

And on the day when the appointed Hour[2296] shall arrive, the guilty will swear that [a]they tarried not save a brief period—thus are they turned away from the right path.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور جس دن قیامت برپا ہوگی مجرم لوگ قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ (دنیا میں) وہ ایک گھڑی سے زیادہ نہیں رہے۔ اسی طرح وہ (پہلے بھی) بھٹکا دئیے جاتے تھے۔

Et le jour où l’Heure arrivera, les coupables jureront qu’ils ne sont restés qu’une heure – ainsi furent-ils détournés du droit chemin.

Und an dem Tage, da die "Stunde" herankommt, werden die Missetäter schwören, dass sie nicht länger als eine Stunde* gesäumt – so haben sie sich immer getäuscht.

当 (固定的) 时候[999]将要降临的那天, 罪人发誓说, [d]他们只逗留了短暂的时刻, 他们就这样被转离 (正道)。

Y en el día en que llegue la Hora los culpables jurarán que no han ermanecido sino una hora: así fueron apartados del camino recto.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور جس دن مقررہ گھڑی آجائے گی مجرم قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ وہ ایک چھوٹے وقفہ کے سوا [2](دنیا میں) نہیں رہے۔ وہ اسی طرح بہکی بہکی باتیں بناتے ہیں۔

اس جگہ عیسائیوں کی اس حالت کی طرف اشارہ ہے جو عیسائیت کے اٹلی میں پھیل جانے کے بعد ہوئی تھی۔ اس وقت وہ اس دورِ تکلیف سے گذر گئے تھے جو اصحابِ کہف کے زمانہ میں اُن پر وارد ہوا تھا اس کے بعد کچھ عرصہ تک ان کو ترقی ملی۔ لیکن اسلام کی ترقی کے زمانہ میں وہ پھر گرے۔ اور پھر اسلام کی ترقی کے زمانہ میں ان پر جو تنزل کا دور آیا تھا اس کو یاد کرکے افسوس کرنے لگے کہ ہم نے بہت ہی کم لذت اٹھائی ہے زیادہ تر تکلیف میں ہی عمر گذاری ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اور جب وہ ساعت برپا ہو گی تو مجرم قسمیں کھا کھا کر کہیں گے کہ ہم ایک گھڑی بھر سے زیادہ نہیں ٹھیرے ہیں، اِسی طرح وہ دنیا کی زندگی میں دھوکا کھایا کرتے تھے

English - Sahih

And the Day the Hour appears the criminals will swear they had remained but an hour. Thus they were deluded.

اورجس دن قیامت قائم ہو گی گناہگار قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ ہم ایک گھڑی سے بھی زیادہ نہیں ٹھہرے تھے اسی طرح وہ الٹے جاتے تھے

Upon the day when the Hour is come, the sinners shall swear they have not tarried above an hour; so they were perverted.

On that Day when the Hour will come to pass the wicked shall swear that they had stayed (in the world) no more than an hour. Thus they used to be deceived in the life of the world.

The day Resurrection is set the sinners will swear: "We did not tarry more than an hour (and cannot be guilty)." That is how they have always been deceived.
