فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ

And, when the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh, ‘Shall we have a reward if we are the winners?’

And, when the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh, ‘Shall we have a reward if we are the winners?’[2732]
Commentary:
The words, 'shall we have a reward if we are the winners,' show (1) that the magicians were professional sorcerers whose standard of morality was very low; and (2) that they were not sure of their success.
English - Short Commentary Translation
And, when the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, ‘Shall we have a reward[2112] if we are the winners?’
The sorcerers seemed to be professional traders in sorcery whose standard of morality was very low.
