لَّا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُومًا مَّخْذُولًا

Commentary:

This verse gives the reason why the rewards of the Hereafter will be given only to those who have faith in it. The reason given here is that men will be made to live with those to whom they are attached. Thus those who love God will scale spiritual heights and will become at one with Him. On the other hand those who are devoted to their false gods will be dragged down to the depths of spiritual degradation. In fact shirk (idolatry) causes man to sink morally and spiritually. Never has a people steeped in shirk been known to have made any real progress. No moral or material progress is possible unless shirk is eradicated.

So [b]set not up another god with Allah[1606] lest thou sit down condemned and forsaken.

Shirk (associating false gods with Allah) causes man to sink morally and spiritually. Never has a people, steeped in Shirk, been known to have made any real moral or material progress. In fact all evils spring from Shirk.

تُو اللہ کے ساتھ کوئی دوسرا معبود نہ بنا ورنہ تو مذمّت کیا ہوا (اور) بے یار و مددگار بیٹھا رہ جائے گا۔

French

[a]不要设立与安拉同等的崇拜对象,[709]否则, 你将被定罪, 受人遗弃而坐下。

شِرْك (Shirk, 设立与安拉同等的虚假崇拜对象) 使人们在道德和精神上堕落。从不见沉浸在多神崇拜中的民族, 曾在道德或物质上有什么真正的进步。事实上, 一切恶事都由 شِرْك (Shirk) 而生。

Italian

Non mettere con Allah un altro dio, per non ritrovarti seduto, svergognato e abbandonato.

Spanish

No encumbres a otro dios juntamente con Al-lah para que no te quedes sentado, despreciado y abandonado.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پس (اے مخاطب) اللہ کے ساتھ کوئی دوسرا معبود نہ بنا‘ ورنہ تو الزام لگوا کر (اور) نصرت (الٰہی) سے محروم ہو کر بیٹھ جائے گا۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

تو اللہ کے ساتھ کوئی دوسرا معبود نہ بنا ورنہ ملامت زدہ اور بے یار و مدد گار بیٹھا رہ جائیگا

English - Sahih

Do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity and [thereby] become censured and forsaken.

الله کے ساتھ اور کوئی معبود نہ بنا ورنہ تو ذلیل بے کس ہو کر بیٹھے گا
