وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ

And We do know those who go ahead among you and We do know those who lag behind.

And We do know those who go ahead among you and We do know those who lag behind.[1731]

Commentary:

This verse answers the question why the preservation and protection of the Quran cannot be entrusted to believers. The answer is that faith is a matter which pertains to the heart, and the condition of the human heart is known to God alone. The preservation of the Quran does not depend only upon intellectual equipment but upon the purity of the heart also. But it is known to God alone which man is pure of heart, and which is not. God has, therefore, reserved the work of preservation of the Quran for Himself so that He may entrust it to one whom He knows to be so spiritually advanced as to be fit for the duty.

And We do know those who go ahead among you and We also do know those who lag behind.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور ہم نے یقیناً تم میں سے سبقت لے جانے والوں کو جان لیا ہے اور ان کو بھی جان لیا ہے جو پیچھے رہتے ہیں۔

Et Nous connaissons en vérité ceux d’entre vous qui vont de l’avant, et Nous connaissons aussi assurément ceux qui traînent,

Und Wir kennen wohl jene unter euch, die voranschreiten, und Wir kennen wohl jene, die zurückbleiben.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ہم تم میں سے آگے نکل جانے والوں کو (بھی) جانتے ہیں۔ اور (اسی طرح) ہم (تم میں سے) پیچھے رہ جانے والوں کو (بھی) جانتے ہیں۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

پہلے جو لوگ تم میں سے ہو گزرے ہیں اُن کو بھی ہم نے دیکھ رکھا ہے، اور بعد کے آنے والے بھی ہماری نگاہ میں ہیں

English - Sahih

And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].
